Does everyone spend 300+ dollars on weapon lights???

Not everyone buy 300$ flashlights, but I do.....
I really use my lights as I shoot every weeks from 18:00 to 21:00. I must admit that I don't need 300$ flashlights but I dont need a 3000$ AR lol. It's not about what I need, but what I want.

TLR-1 from Botach's ebay site. best 89 bucks I ever spent. I've had surefire before, but can't get over the old tech for the high price. Even the mounts they were in (A.R.M.S) were crap - broke off! I end up zapstrapping anyway. For those who use their weapons lights operationally - ENSURE YOU HAVE A GOOD SUPPLY OF BATTERIES!!!! CR123A are hot commodities where I am, and can fetch up to $5.00-10.00 a piece. Lights utilizing AA or AAA would be better choices - I use a sunwayman thickened with electrical tape in a one inch ring. Having said that, if its just going on a range gun, have at 'ers.

I've yet to try the inforce stuff. I'd like to.

Heres my thoughts on taclights:

They're great lights. Actually some people use them as carbine lights too:

Check this out:
http://www.amazon.com/UltraFire-WF502B-Flashlight-Generic-Packaging/dp/B005E48K6I

The Ultrafire is advertised at about 1000 lumens for $11, and according to some reviewers it is actually only 500 lumens (see product comments). Still that's 2.5 times brighter than the Inforce, and the Ultrafire battery lasts 4 hours on high setting which is about 2.5 times longer than the Inforce too.

The Surefire E2D costs $150, has 120 lumens and battery life on high is 1.9 hours.

Lol, buying a ten dollar light does not seem like a good idea to me. Although with a 1000 lumen output does it also double as a blow-torch?

I can see the marketing now:

"Breach and clear. Then reseal the door."

Even if it's 'only' 500 lumens the chances for splashback blinding you are pretty good. The other night I was using a Surefire Fury to see how my gutters were working after 31" of snow over 48hrs followed by heavy rain. I used the high output setting by mistake (advertised as 500 lumens) and was temporarily blinded, and this was a range of approx 10' outside. I'd hate to find out what 500 - 1000 lumens would do to your vision indoors off of a wall 2' - 8' away.

Laugh2 Lol, outstanding.

When it comes to lights, I have a simple formula: easy, cheap, replaceable. I have some crummy Noma LED lights that fit perfectly into 1" scope rings. They cost me 3 bucks a piece at Crappy Tire. They withstand the shock of buckshot - couple hundred rds fired so far and the crappy lights still work.

So why did I cheap out? Simply because my life doesn't depend on this gear, so if one goes out on me - meh - calmly reach into the pocket of my housecoat, replace the broken light, and continue to shoot the racoons or whatever critters happen to be plaguing the cottage. Pants optional. I love the woods.

Now if I needed a light that I could depend on, I suppose I would dish out a reasonable amount, but I see it as a want, not a need. Just my 2 cents.

I use a Pellican 7060 and I find that it is often much too bright for what it needs to be, and it's only rated for 130 lumens. But blinding people with light can be a good tactic as well, although I'm quite sure 500 lumens would be more than enough.

I used a $20 ebay 10w LED lights on a $10 mount at the last Tacmatch night event. It outshone almost every other light on the range and ran flawless. To be honest I'd spend a bit more on something more solid if I was going to war but I'm not. At least I sure hope I'm not!

In general they are not restricted by Itar.... Canada is just a exclusive territory for distributor. So if US officiels retailers want to be "officials dealers" they need to respect their contract with Surefire.

i run surefire on my pistols... x200, x300 and the x300 ultra now.. all with dg-11 switches. for my latest carbine build which I am building specifically for a low light carbine course i have the streamlight tlr-1HL mounted... 630 advertised lumens and a great price. I am also running this on an a2 upper with tricon night sights installed, so all my bases are covered.

Put a diffuser on and just toss em around as battery operated flares
