Does IPSC Rifle training exist?

Ahem, back on original topic , I'm down for this too obviously. July before the Nationals would be ideal. Hopefully we can nail down a date between 8 people who are squared away.

I was talking to Tritium tonight and he mentioned that in order to take the course we obviously need our own rifle, an att, oh yah and no jerks (Quigley excepted ;)).

I am 100% in.
June 14, 21 are good..........potentially the 27th.
July dates are no good. I'm working all of them.
All august dates are good.
I hope this happens!!

Cool! Okay, I'll hit up my local club and see about some range time. It will most likely be a Sunday.

Just so you know, the following criteria are a must:

1) Have a semi-auto rifle or have access to one (I don't lone mine).
2) Must have a valid RPAL or PAL (for obvious reasons - see criteria # 1).
3) If an ATT is required, YOU arrange it.
4) No jerks (except for Quigley but he can't help it).
5) No whining about criteria 1 through 5!

I think that was simple, no?:)

I'll keep you posted as to a date and location I'm thinking the 21st or 27th so you guys can rustle up ammo. Once we get this first course out of the way I can guarantee that if it goes well, there will be others.

I'm trying to arrange for range time at Grenville on 14 or 28 June.

This is really starting to sound intresting, but being from Quebec I am a little lost (NO JOKES). I got a taste or real AR shooting in the st jaquest 3 gun match and I like it ......... so as for your list.

1. AR 15 16" with iron sights and 2 mags
2. PAL RPAL not an issue
3. I think I can get an ATT but from quebec I might need invite letter
4. No jerks ---- not a problem I like a Kid with a new toy and just want to play
5. no problem

Questions:
6. where is Grenville Range? about 2.5hrs is as far as I can travel from quebec(montreal)
7. how much does some thing like this cost?
8. do i need any type of special equpment? I only have an AR and 2 mags (might be able to get a couple more)

thanks

Earl...will we start our with a sighting in period? I can bring a spotting scope. I moved my optics around a bit (scope on higher rings and the dot is now back behind the ejection port) so I'm sure it's still close...but I'd like to check them...

First thing on my lesson plan after the safety and rifle set up lectures is sighting in.

No point in shooting a course when you don't know where you are hitting. If done right, sighting in should only take about half an hour...if done wrong... well....:(

Hey guys,

With the number of folks interested, it looks like 2 courses would be in order.

I will run 8 or less per course so that I can maintain safety and give one on one pointers where required.

So far, I have 8 for the first one!

Recommended equipment / optics to bring?
Sling, mag carriers etc?, is load bearing equipment kosher in ipsc rifle?
What distances will we be shooting?

Hi John,

Optics don't matter.. I use both irons and optics on the course.

Ditch the sling for this one! There will be no command of "let 'em hang".

Load bearing equipment is fine and, if you are military or police, we can get some other military and police folks together and have a course dedicated strictly to those folks. That course will be vetted.

For this one, longest we'll run is out to 100 m, dependent on the range we use. Most of the course will be closer to work on speed, rifle manipulation, etc.
