Does it worth to buy VZ 58 7.62?

I thought the chrome lined barrel was just a new thing on some of the non-restricted. The shorty versions of both had chrome lined.

That is correct. North Sylva imported about 50 NR that are newly manufactured with chrome lined barrels. The shorty versions had chrome lined and other than the 50, all non restricted CSA VZ58s did not have chrome lined barrels.

If CSA is non-restricted 7.62 and has a chrome lined bore, it is better than CZ -858, but only 50 of those were brought in, according to the comment above. So while some dealers selling these CSA for a while as "chrome lined" most of them actually are not!!!
So chances are very slim that you have a Chromed barrel, and even slimmer chance that OP will find one at this point...

IMHO.. If only 50 of them made to Canada, I'm sure at least 10 of them got sold even before getting to the dealers, then spread the remaining ones between the Dealers that claim that they are selling a non rest. 7.62 chrome lined CSA, there will be only few left for each dealer ..
So go figure..

I prefer the CSA vz58. Chrome bore (will last a lot longer), factory-tapped receiver for optics mount, way better finish, all parts are newly manufactured and does not have the "gremlin" problem that's been quite common in CZ858s.

That being said, stay away from the CSA vz58 in .223, ONLY get the 7.62 x 39.
Their .223s have a lot of issues, and this is the main reason why there are a lot of CSA haters out there. But their 7.62 is just as reliable as the CZs.

Even a non-res CSA without the chrome lined bore is better than a CZ IMO.

Again, the CSAs are all newly manufactured, factory-tapped receiver for optics mount, better finish, no gremlin problem like the CZs...

I can't see any advantage to owning a CZ over a CSA. Especially with the converted auto issue thats going on with the CZs.
The only reason why I would've considered a CZ was because they were cheaper, but thats not even true anymore, with all the CZ owners thinking their rifle is magically worth $900 all of a sudden.

I don't know about the csa...never fired one but I know the 858 rocks....2000rnds down the tube without a single failure of any sort.

The chrome lined versions have different wording on the receiver. I can't remember what exactly but that's how I confirmed that mine was the chrome lined barrel version, instead of a non-chrome-lined that was sent to me by mistake. The chrome lined versions cost $150 more than the regular CSAs

I bought a used CZ858 and have had zero issues with it. No gremlin either. I prefer the durable finish on it compared to the CSA model and with all the bolt/firing pin issues I've read about the CSA's I'm glad I picked a rugged military design. A chrome lined barrel version will cost you over 1000 bucks from what I seen dealers selling them for.

The box they come in do indicate "CHRM" on the side.

As for the receiver, could it be that the serial number ends with a C?

I own both the SKS and the CZ 858.
The CZ is way overpriced for what it is. I never shoot it.
I regret buying it to be honest and am debating selling her.

The SKS does everything the CZ does, same caliber, same effective range, same accuracy. The SKS just costs $200 for a good ol' Russian while the CZ is up in the retardosphere of overpriced guns in this country.

Plus with the end of importation, people are only going to be asking more than what they sold for new for a used-hard rifle all tacti-###'ed up etc.

People say the CZ is very reliable, I experienced problems with mine, the bolt catch wore down doesn't always work, mine also gets the uncocked trigger problem once in a while. There are zero parts for them that don't cost ridiculous amounts of money and that's only going to get worse with no more coming into the country.

I find the rifle just feels cheap and flimsy, just not a fan. I tried to like mine (even had some custom stock/wood made for her) for a long time before I just came to terms with my distaste for it.

Go with the SKS Sir, long term investment wise and practicality wise it's the logical choice these days. Just my 2 cents.

I already own SKS and I thought to buy also something tactical but hence there is no much choice in NR and my budget is pretty tight my only option is CZ 858 or VZ 58. That is the main reason why I'm looking for an advice from owners of those rifles :)

Seen.

Sorry I didn't read that you had an SKS alread, I apologize.

But the rest of my points still stand ;) lol

Another option is to wait for the '958' model Wolverine has spoke of, hopefully due next year.

Don't hold your breath.

They said they are "working on it" with the manufacturer.

This means that its probably a year before it can be submitted to the RCMP, and AT LEAST another year , probably year and a half to get classified. Minimum.

They all have the gremlin unless you have them tabbed. Whether or not it shows up for you is largely in how you pull the trigger.

I got a CSA .223 Vz 58 and its worked just fine with 550 rounds though it. The people who had issues with their CSA .223 Vz 58 had them with in the first 10 rounds and most of them were short barrel versions.

It seems that getting good quality VZ (without malfunctions and issues) is a matter of luck while CZ will have "gremlin" anyway... Tough choice. Prices for LNIB CZ 858 are almost the same as for new regular (non chrome lined) VZ 58 :(
