Does my leupold scope just suck or...

So, got me a nice rifle with a (what I assume to be older leupold) 3x9x40 or 50. It has the front scope bell set too 100 i think which i assume to be paralax.
Now, scope seems blurry around the outside...its usable up to 4 or 5 power but seems to be horrid blurry if you use any more zoom than that. For most of my hunting its usually 4 or less anyways as most shots are well under 300.. But is this a paralax setting that needs to be dealt with?

I can shoot pretty accurately with it out to 250. But it sure isn't optically as clear as I have been lead to believe these things should be. All my older burris fullfields and redfield revenge with fixed paralax seem much clearer...

Send it to Korth and they will clean it and adjust as needed.

I may be wrong but I am pretty sure that Leupold has never made a 3-9x40 nor a 3-9x50 scope with adjustable obj. Only 3-9 made with adjustable obj. was 3-9x33 EFRs. I`m guessing it is not a Leupold. Phone Korth with the serial number. Can anyone actually verify that Leupold made such a scope?

Sounds like it needs cleaning and servicing assuming you understand how it's supposed to work.
I doubt it's a model that has been cloned by China so Korth should take care of it for you.

I just hit the googletron, the VX series had a 3-9X but the objective lens with the adjustable parallax is 33mm, not 40.
Pretty cool, but for a 3-9X I'm not sure if I would worry too much about an adjustable objective lens?

As has been mentioned you may want to start at the eyepiece (ocular) end of the scope and set it for your personal vision. Do this by looking through the scope (set at maximum power) at a blank white wall or a clear sky and adjust until the reticle is the clearest or sharpest. Do this with the parallax set to infinity (sideways 8 symbol) or maximum distance. Then adjust and confirm parallax. Here is a link to a video that I saw several years ago that does a good job of visually showing what proper and improper parallax looks like and how to adjust it.

I'll look when I get home. Defintly older, so I doubt it's a clone. I'm pretty sure its a vari of some kind. I played with reticle focus. Image is blurry on the outside. Paralax would need a strap wrench to loosen that front ocular ring I think.

But maybe ill just switch it out and send it away to Korth.

Just wanted to say. Scope has no click adjustment on the turrets. Just friction. So pretty sure thats a vari.
