VX-2 didnt come out until 2012. You may be thinking of the VXII or Vari-x which are older models than the 2. Something some guys should learn when they post VXI, VXII, AND VXIII for sale as 1, 2, and 3.Leupold made 3-9x40 with adjustable objective back in 70's and 80's for sure VX2. I had one.
I got a fake on a used deal before too!Are you sure it is an authentic Leupold scope? Lots of fakes out there.
Call their customer service # and check the serial # with them
Its an 80s rifle too! And it is a vari-x 3x9!I had a Leupold Vari-X 3x9 on a rifle that I bought used in the 1980's that was giving me the same problem. Upon closer examination the lens coatings near the center of the lens were literally worn away, probably due to the curve of the lens and old age. I contacted Korth, was advised to send the scope in to them and they took very good care of me.
they made many of them in the 80's and 90's excellent scopes i have 4 of them and buy everyone i findI may be wrong but I am pretty sure that Leupold has never made a 3-9x40 nor a 3-9x50 scope with adjustable obj. Only 3-9 made with adjustable obj. was 3-9x33 EFRs. I`m guessing it is not a Leupold. Phone Korth with the serial number. Can anyone actually verify that Leupold made such a scope?
Yes !
I sent that scope to a young feller, and it works great for him…Yes !
Try shining a flashlight through the objective lens while your looking in to the eyepiece on a bit of an angle.... I have a scope that has contamination on the inside lenses and it looks pretty clear until you start getting into the higher power range. With a light you can easily see the dirty film on the inside of the lenses that should not be there. Its definitely usable on 3 to 5, but after that its pretty blurry. Think ill maybe try and get a strap wrench and play with parallax.
I did set the reticle focus as instructed. Its fine.
