Does shooting Norinco .223 lower the resale value of an AR?

I have read a number of complaints on this forum about the quality of Norinco ammo, but I also see a lot of people using it at the range.

While most people are having a good experience with the ammo, I have heard of brass shavings being left in the action, excessive fouling, etc...

So far, I have only run U.S. factory-made .223 through my AR. Would resale value be affected if I started shooting Norinco?

might not affect the value.. but i definitely had some pierced primers and blown cases with that Norc on 2 different lot #s. The white box stuff. Now all i shoot is PMC, FED, or Remington

I bought 1000rds,, shot 100 or so, was too dirty for me so i sold the rest,, it won't damage your gun and you dont need to tell people what ammo u used but make sure u clean it well

There was at least one lot that had some issues with the crimp. The bullet backing up a bit could cause some pressure issues. If I'd bought more than a few hundred I would have ran them through my crimp die. As for blown cases do you mean split necks? I found a few split necks, the reason I didn't reload the brass, probably the brass was just a little hard if you had the same problem.

I've probably shot something like 8000 rounds of 93, 95/28, and 95/31 combined.
31 was the worst but still worked well for the most part.

In my well tuned AR's I had little to no problems. If there was a problem, chances are it had something to do with the gun.

I did have the occasional punctured primer with 95 31, but it was rare. Never had a primer come loose.

It all ran clean for me.

I'm going to miss it.

I won't shoot Norinco through any of my rifles and I won't buy a rifle from an owner who admits to shooting it through their rifle.
Most people don't feel the same as I do so I'm sure you will have no problem selling it if you do.

Well... If your gun blows up, I expect it could affect the resale value in a rather negative way.

But aside from that, who'd know what type of ammo you put through her? Besides, she's meant to be shot, not coddled. Blast away!

its not steel case, so its not going to damage the extractor.

its not steel or bimetal jacket so its not going to erode the chamber or damage the rifling

its not corrosive so its not going to corrode anything.

is there something else it could do?

Almost 10000 rounds of Norc through 2 ARs in the last two years. I don't remember a single FTF. My only problem with Norinco .223 ammo is my initially large stockpile is dwindling.

Yes it will lower the value. Shooting lots of good, cheap ammo will wear out your AR a lot faster than several boxes of expensive ammo.
