It's embarrassing to relate, but I sent my PAL application with a passport-sized picture, and I now understand that the dimensions aren't the same as what's required. Will Miramichi simply send the application back?

I believe that they'll send you a letter to let you know that something isn't quite right (eventually). You're better off calling them to check - it might expedite the process. Good Luck!

you can call in when they receive it (look at the sticky for speeding up your pal) and see if the photo passes or not. If they don't like it, you will have to re-submit just a photo that is good, IMHO. I took my own photo with a digital camera and printed it out with an ink jet on plain paper and it was accepted ok. just make sure the head size is at least 30mm and the photo size is NO LARGER than 45mm x 57mm (i.e. the photo does not have to take up the whole space on the photo instruction sheet).

follow the sticky on speeding up your pal, and things should go pretty quick. they received mine on the 08/23, scanned it in 09/01, everything was fine, did my interview during my call in to check everything, they already called one ref, gave my other ref the case number and 800 number to call in.

if they say its no good, go to Blacks Photo . tell them its for PAL License and they do it for you.

Or they will ignore the instructions, print out a passport photo and not refund the payment until you threaten to call head office. But at least you get the little passport book/wallet thingy as their shameless plug. Ask me how I know!:D

I did submit a passport photo too and it went through without problems (regarding the photo at least).

As it was suggest here before me: call and inquire about it, it will speed up the process. Also if you call let's say 2 weeks after they recived it they will tell you if your photo is ok. A friend of mine completely forgot to put his photo in the application. He used the 28 days waiting period to send it back and it was added to his file before the end of the waiting period, wich mean it did not delay his application.

I submitted it with a passport photo. It didn't exactly fit. You can see a slight gray line on the side of the photo, lol. They still sent it to me with no problems though.

BAH! this is the worst. I had a problem with my picture, and that added an extra two weeks onto my wait time. I got two pics printed, put my info on the back of one, got them mixed up and sent the wrong one in. FAIL.

I had a passport sized photo which I cut to their required dimensions, they found that acceptable. I am sure you'll be good-to-go. Never hurts to phone and confirm.

Oh heck, if they want to send me a PAL with 12.3 on the back by mistake, I'll gladly accept.

Thanks very much for the feedback everyone. I'll call them in a couple of weeks and see if they have any complaints about my application.

After looking through my photos and trying (and failing) to take pictures of myself that meet the size requirements, I talked to the RCMP pers at the hotline and they informed me that a passport photo is fine.
