Dominion Arms 1897 trench shotgun!!

Dear Canam,
i have been a good boy this year and bought and shot many firaerms. All I want for Christmas this year is to give you money and have one of these in my hands.

Thanks!

14" is too short. 18"-20" is the Goldilocks length to a 12 ga of this ilk. And I would prefer one with the bead in the barrel rather than sitting on a Chinese heat shield.

Ya, I agree with the concern with the bead on sheet metal too...guess it would be easy to adjust though lol

Thats actually a mossberg aimpro heatshield. I sent them a pic and they said it was def one of theirs. Someone has fitted it to a chopped up/shorty 1897.

Where did CanAm jump on?

Don't sharpen the bayo, you'll only end up cutting yourself with it. It's meant to be a pokie thing more than a slashie thing.

Plinkie, you definitely have a way with words! q;^]

OK, I posted here already, but could somebody please steer me to the post where CanAm stated they were jumping on this wagon? I must've been sick that day.
Thx

I had asked in the 1st post if they could talk to China about making these... the response in post #8 was yes

I interpret that, as they are going to look into it.. hopefully they will let us know if there is progress.

Been looking for this for over 6 years. Please make it happen! I already have money put aside for this waiting for this gun.

"Yes"...

Aye, the word was indeed, "Yes."
They be men of few words.
I'm sure that getting this set up from their end can't happen overnight.
We've expressed our collective interest, now we'll just have to be patient.

Would getting some quality reproduction M1917 bayonets be in the playing cards to go along with these shotguns?
I would buy a handful of quality bayonets for other projects as well.

I'd rather have an original, albeit lacking the bayonet stuff...I'd feel absurd using that.

My 1915 model 1897 comes with me hunting every year in the event of grouse, or unruly coon. 18" barrel, not a speck of blue left. Works awesome and cost me 225 bucks at a gun show.

No doubt these will be popular, look at how few come up on the EE. If they do, they are gone quickly. How long do you think it take for these to be available. This year, no chance. Early 2017, dream on. Mid 2017 maybe, but that is usually code for late November. 2018, yes, they will be readily available by then. So what if you cannot wait?

I decided that to cut down a good 1897 would be not for me. For one to have lasted almost a 100 years, only to be sawn down did not work for me. But an Ithaca 37, an old beater, say a field gun. Now that is a different thing.

So I have secure a lovely Ithaca Model 37 (loads and ejects from the underside) and the East Taylor heat shield and bayo adaptor. Now to clean up and either re-blue or cerakote the package and re-finish the wood work.

I don't plan on starting the project until after Christmas 2016, but I still reckon that I will have finished it long before you even have a firm delivery date on the unit in this thread. :)

Candocad.

Don't need the trench gun, but I would pick one up if they are available. I've got both the chinese and original

Chinese one works good so far, haven't even shot the original yet (just go both recently) tomorrow will have a go at it

Now another shotgun reproduction that would be really great would be a Burgess Shotgun

Although a bit complex if Dominion pulled off the 1887 Winchester, a Burgess should be possible :)

So many neat things about these......a holster for when folded would be a great accessory.....

the norinco 1897 has been out for many years. That burgess looks like project for one of the Italian firms that specialize in such things
