This is my first AR, so I don't have anything else to compare it to. It performed perfect at the range. I had no failures of any kind, after 220 rounds. The only negative things I have to say are: the mags that came with it have a slot cut into the side to verify that there is only 5 rounds, down side, if you try to put more then 5 rounds in, the round at the bottom gets stuck in the cut out slot and you will need to push on it to get them to sit properly in the mag. The second con is that, after about 50 rounds or so, the threaded ring that holds the hand guard on came loose. Not really a big concern for me because I plan on installing a 12" freefloat Quad rail.

Do you have a photo of the slot cut out?

I've seen those mags - they're hideous - the entire side of the mag is window cut, and the slot is actually taller than a 556 round on it's side. I guess it doesn't really matter, since most guys run pistol mags or PMags anyway.

How's the trigger? I'd be interested to see a side-by-side comparaison with a Norc CQa. Anyone out there that has experience with both?

The trigger is good, no slop, I am quite surprised. I am pretty sure that the DA 556 is just a rebranded Norinco CQa. Dominion Arms is Canada Ammo's own brand name. My DA 556 came with a CQa manual.

I may order one, i want to start with a high quality AR-10/SR 25, but for that little money might as well have a 223 to since i still have 12 Lar-15 mags laying around ( pickup in a trade)... JP.

Just got mine today. Looks fantastic, feels great and cycled snap caps with ease... can't beat it for the price. Looking forward to getting out and shooting it. Glad I ordered the deal with 1000+ rounds because I think I'll be shooting it a lot!
