Funny, the wife said I was going over the top when I suggested we replace the shotgun with a chainsaw, in our home defence plan.

My rationality was that: If the sound of a shotgun being racked in a distant room is <scary> for potential home invader... seeing a naked middle-aged man, show up in the hallway with a safety helmet w/lights and a screaming chainsaw... ought to be scarier... no
Ho well, we're back to the shotgun.

As far as use for a tomahawk, I'd guess the same as a hatchet.

If you could put it on the bottom of the shotty that would be even better.

55HRC or less will not hold an edge very well. But then 5160 mostly being a cheap automotive spring leaf steel (not even bearing grade) was not designed to hold an edge. Sounds really cheap to begin with.

I'm seeing 54-57 HRC on lots of axes, including higher end $350 ones.

Also the same $350 being made of 5160 steel...

I don't see that hardness or steel being an issue at all.

Well if there's a need for holes in it I was thinking fire hydrant wrench , square,poly and a small pry pick on the back of the head that would be realistic strong enough so you can really reef on it. Hacking And prying with good balance for throwing" end of days hawk !
