Well I had already decided that the buttstock on mine was too long for me, so I took the opportunity to strip the entire gun this morning to get the buttstock off and ready for shortening.
Firstly the buttpad is a hollow design, with a rubber layer around the core material. This means if you want to shorten the stock you can't go to far before the stock pad is useless (same as some remmies). Since I plan on taking off an inch or two, it means a new buttpad most likely (steel I should think)

Getting the stock off is a little more involved than an 870, but it does come off eventually. The pile of washers on the bolt struck me as interesting, no lockwasher in there, so I will throw one in.
Everything else comes apart easily with a few odd observations along the way.

Safety - The guide screw on mine was not in straight, and was finger loose, I removed it, cleaned it and reassembled it. It works like a charm, if for some reason someone wanted a safety on a hammer gun, I am honestly debating removing it and welding the hole up. I would suggest loctiting that screw in.

Latch Pivot screw - was loose, not screwed all the way in. I decided to yank everything apart as a result and get all of the packing oil out of the metal. A little locktite when I reassemble I think.

Oh yeah, that spring, in a total brainfart I forgot they are compressed  Actually they are easy to remove and replace, and there was a bucket of oil in there.

Firing pin nuts - were finger tight, so I yanked those out as well. Two small metal rings came out, I would have said they were a shaving, but there was one under each nut?? Anyone else find these, are they intended as washers?
The firing pins are nice, I mean so simple, you can make your own with ease.

Had a couple of small burrs on the hammer faces, not really noticable, but they were there, and my left hammer had hit the reciever just up from the firing pin nut, dinging it, so I took a diamond file to that area, and now everything is hunky-dory.

Now to figure out how I am gonna mount a bayonet to it, like RobAK is doing to his :D

If you shorten the stock would it then be small enough to become restricted now?

Even with the 12inch barrels its still well beyond 660 OAL. I did measure it out of the box, and its OAL surprised me, room there to take a few inchs off.

There is a small hole in the bottom rib, presumably for a sling swivel etc, but I am thinking bayonet lug :D

Ahh, I held one and it seemed to just be long enough, never measured it though. It is one heavy SOB though and a bayonet will make it even front heavier.

your picture taking skillz suck! Where are the pictures of the things you described?
We could have taken it apart in my garage yesterday and taken some decent pictures.. :p

Yes, it comes with tons of oil. So get your old T-shirt ready. Blue is very deep, the wood is surprisingly hard. I have Chinese SKS, on which I can just scratch the wood with my finger nail. I can't do that to Outlaw. Other than that, the gun is put together like kind of engine block, follow the small corners you can see scratches, blurs etc. Hammer gun has tons of external pats, cosmetic job will cost lots of hours. I am happy to see what they had done with 300 dollars.

The handling of this saw-off is totally different from any other guns I have seen. The moment you put hands on it, you know it's designed for human size target within 15 feet - nothing else. Perfectly for wild wild west bar fight, this saw-off has significant advantage over six-shoot in a indoor shoot-out. It comes with Modified choke. I will post picture of group patern as soon as the snow stops.

When is your next "Wild West" bar night?

Win 64 is as good with his P gun as you guys with your D guns, but you have to let him premount and everone has to shoot in turn and he gets to say pull first.:D Rules for wild west bar fights will have to be re written.:dancingbanana:
