Dominion Powders Now Available

Tried out the D4064 tonight with my .223, 90 grain JLK. First time shooting at night. Discovered my red targets are hard to see at 100m. Lol! Still shot ok though. I only had two groups of 5 for this powder. Similar groups. I know it’ll do better when I can actually see the target. :)

Nice shooting, did you get any velocity or sd numbers ?!

The D4895 has been excellent in .223, but it seems I should be trying it in .308 as well. I will certainly be picking more up once it's available again.

Thanks. No chrono last night, and the Easter Bunny only brought me chocolate. No Labradar. :(
Estimated velocity is about 2520 fps based on readings in that range previously, but I question that number. When I test, I just use a basic IR chrono, and if the bullet isn't exactly parallel, it'll read lower. Plus, to avoid issues, I put it about 18 feet away, so all numbers will be lower than at the muzzle by a bit more.

for those curious about D8208 BR I'll post some numbers.

all points are single data points taken from a Satterlee development using magneto speed.

keep in mind these numbers are for my rifle w/ 22" barrel. all brass prepped the same, same head stamp, weight sorted, light crimp applied.

Remington 7 1/2 primers
Hornady 55 SP

D8208 BR
23.3- 3131
24.3- 3308
24.5- 3320
25.3- 3404

*21.3- 2881
*22.3- 2978

IMR 8208 XBR
23.3- 2864
24.3- 3041
24.5- 3109
25.3- 3229
25.7- 3313

pressure starting on top end of D8208 and slightest bit on IMR noted by primer cratering. I get a lot more primer cratering from factory ammo in this rifle than these loads.

Is D4064SSC faster than D4895 for .308? I need to feed a short barrel rifle, D4895 has been great but it's not available currently.

D4064 will be a bit slower burning, very close to varget I think. I'll be trying it in my 7mm08, so I can't see why it wouldn't work in a .308. I'm sure it'll be around same velocity as well.
