Don't Hate Me For This FN Question!!

I find that difficult to believe. BUT maybe someone slipped through the cracks. As for the government changing the classification, that will be the day! "I" think that now that they have turned all of the prohib's into safe queens, it's just a matter of time before they deside that "we have no lagit use for them.
But as we all know, they promised that "Registration would not lead to Confiscation".

please guys, stop using the unrestricted/restricted vs prohibs comparisons to convince an anti or a lawyer that prohib status doesn't make any sense. It is easier for them to promote placing them altogheter into prohib.

Use more coherent arguments, such as ##### envy. ;)

I take it he doesn't have the thing registered?

I remember back in the day I had an fn come to the police station. I had to argue with the staff sergent there to get him to register it. He was like it is a long gun there is no need to register that.

If I knew then what I know now I would be oh sorry officer it is my mistake.;)

One day, over the rainbow, FN bullets fly.. just not in Canada. Even if you own one (or two) you can't take them off to the range to shoot them. EVIL SEMI AUTOMATIC FIREARM!
What absolute B.S.
If you have the right licence, 12.5, there is an L1A1 for sale @ The Gun Centre in Kitchener, Ontario. Comes with two mags, sling and bayonet. Lithgow produced.

The FNs got hit with the convenient "Order In Counsel" long before the rest of the fun guns got grounded. I can't believe I was stupid enough to go down to the local RCMP office to register my Australian L1A1. I guess I was just being a good little Canadian, sounds something like old people would do.

since they are no longer firearms, do you still have to register (deactivated firearms)? and why if so?

oh ya and doesnt Questar sell a few different models of FN?

i installed a british white ceremony sling on my fal. this has prevented me many times from removeing said rifle from safe. for years i thought i owned this firearm., but now i realise i am just holding it for the government. a very sad fate for the right arm of the free world. PROPERTY RIGHTS LEGISLATION IN CANADA NEEDS A REVIEW! steve.

Have we helped you make up your mind? HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think we have gotten off your original question a bit.
My take on this would be that I can't see any government reversing itself on any gun laws. Those who have functional rifles will PROBABLY never get to see them in the light of day again. Except of course if you are taking them to a gun store to try to sell them off. If having a dewat makes you happy, than be happy.

The only times the Government reversed something was:
The Conservatives under Joe Clark deregistered the AR 15 briefly.
The other time was the Valmet M78s got changed from Prohibited to non-restricted.
Those are the two that I can recall at the moment.
There may be a couple of others, but those two were the ones I remember.
Like the others before have said, you will have to settle for a deactivated FN or get an M305. I like the M14 or M305 to shoot over the FN.

I also found the M14 variants more "user friendly". If you where prone and using a sling with the FN, it was a pain in the butt to manipulate the mag release. (right handed shooter) The mag release is only on the left side of the gun. With the M14, the mag release is located right in the middle so that you could use either hand to operate it. Sling up nice and tight and stay that way. I found that there was less felt recoil with the M14 as well. Not that I minded the FN's recoil. You know the story, the more they say you can't have it, the more you want it! STUPID F-ING GUN LAWS! I just don't recall the last time I heard of a variety store hold up with an FN. But, I must admit, I did enjoy watching the movie Heat.

The FN, my first love, now it's only Communist steel I can shoot. To be able to bicker over the FN versus the M-14 on a daily basis, after shooting both at the range side by side again would be great.
Anyone recognize this model of the right arm of the free world?

Yes. What used to be a vicious and heated argument is now a very fond memory that brings about a certain mistiness to the eyes!

BTW. Are all Commonwealth FN's considered 12.5? Other than a C2 or L2?
