Don't miss Canada in the Rough this Morning

Interesting how the conservation officer at the beggining of the show said not to shoot the bison in the neck or hump because the skin was so thick and the bullets sometimes don't penetrate. Don't think he would have had a problem with the .338 he was shooting today!

Woods Bison... it took a lot to put it down too... they only showed two shots... and I am pretty sure the guide finished it off... Pigeon did not look too thrilled with going in to the thick stuff after a wounded Buff
He did admit to hitting it too far back... off hand shot but very close I think... and he said it took several shots to finally put it down.
I think the .338 is a minimum calibre for these brutes... I am no expert at Bison but if I ever got the chance I think I would use a .375H&H at the least
I know we have a member who has shot these monsters before.... what did you use :?:

Hey I got to see the last two.
Good show, I wonder how long it runs?
Does anyone else hear an American accent when Pigeon talks?
6' at the shoulder is quite an impressive beastie. I'd be wearing my cup going in after it too.

I watched it again(first I saw was about taxidermy) this past Saturday at 6:30 am ...it was about the Woods bison hunt . Sunday morning I only caught the last two minutes of the Bear hunting piece :( ....but caught the last 10 minutes of the show an hour later ...on the same channel (I think)

Bill spanked a decent Musk-Ox with his Excalibur... and Pigeon cranked a P&Y with his Compound.... 8)
I could have done without Thomas Pigeon doing the Dance with the ### Inuit though.....
