Don't you want to come out and play?

srt

You're a troll. You obviously know NOTHING about deer hunting or deer management. Crawl back into whatever slippery orifice expelled you.

I AM a trained wildlife biologist and teacher of wildlife biology. The purpose of antlerless tags is to knock down the deer population and maintain healthy ratios between bucks and does. The kid fulfilled the spirit and purpose of that and broke no laws. In fact most provincial wildlife biologists get miffed that the antlerless tags get held onto as license of last resort. That is not their purpose. Some areas here in AB (and many in the US) even MAKE you shoot does before you can use your buck tag.

In closing, STFU NOOBY:jerkit::puke:

of course he got all 3 they were pets and just wanted to play.... a seasoned hunter or even a properly trained young hunter would have known something was up and would also know his neighbor had pet deer.

I dont' hunt yet, but plan to in the near future. But in my opinion, it is not up to us to decide if he broke a law or not as we were not there. AND, thank God none of us ever made a questionable judgement call or an outright mistake when we were 14!

Well said sjemac.

All hail the wildlife biologist he must know everything about everything....lol..we all know the purpose of anterless deer tags my friend.

You're a troll. You obviously know NOTHING about deer hunting or deer management

again I'm a troll cause I dont agree with killing Fawns and peoples pets SORRY!...

You say "The kid fulfilled the spirit and purpose of that and broke no laws"

Like I said before there is just as much proof saying there were laws broken as there are saying there werent.....where did you see the tags? we are reading the same info we are just interpreting it differently thats all.

Like I said I hunt one way you hunt another leave it at that. I have been hunting this way for 12years and find it weird how many deer hunters shoot the first thing that pops out. I will take a doe but it will be big and mature no yearlings or fawns.

finally someone with common sence.

I'm sorry I jumped to the conclusion that he never had anterless tags but everone who says its legal are drawing their own conclusion the way they want to see it. We have all read the same post and it doesnt say he had tags and it doesnt say he didnt have any tags. So we are all jumping to conclusions not just me.

well if you want to look at it that way then there is no proof to say they had anterless tags at all. Perhaps these deer were taken with out tags....you guys are quick to say its legal but you have just as much proof as I do about the validity of having 3 anterless deer tags.

If they had the tags then fine no laws were broken but if there were no tags then its 3 counts of illegalily harvesting a game animal.

you must be really into yourself to think that your the only one here who practises proper deer management. ofcourse there is no proof they had anterless tags, but then you had no proof when you started with this diatribe, rant. when it comes down to it we're on a public forum so we take everything at face value without "proof". i think most of us would rather give the kid and his party the benefit of any doubt. why keep questioning whether it was legit? good god.

Sine this post was in a "Hunting" forum and not a "Poaching" forum, you are the one who jumped to conclussions.

I have yet to see any Pet Store that has a Deer pen, If I ever do, I promise I will never shoot one. I only hope I never see a gopher pen in a pet store now, that would just ruin my spring :p

oh and if you know so much about quality deer management then you would also know the goal is to not take game under 1yr of age. Its not the Doe that angers me its the fawns. Seems like you need to do some more research my friend on what QDMA really is.

Just because my post count is low doesnt make me a noob to hunting.

I have already appoligized for jumping to conclusions but I will do it again "sorry for jumping to conclusions".

Everything? No. Wildlife management? A lot more than most people. Including most hunters. It was my job for years and is still a major part of it. As well as being a personal interest.

Deer aren't pets. It is illegal to keep them as such (this may not be true in Morontario -- nothing about there surprises me -- but I strongly suspect that it is). If the ladies were feeding deer and attempting to make pets of them they were dooming them to death.

You say "The kid fulfilled the spirit and purpose of that and broke no laws"

Guilty until proven innocent huh? Vote Liberal much?

I do pop the first thing that comes out. But then I get 4-5 tags and we eat nothing but game. I will pop one of the fawns too. Better meat and it hasn't proven itself biologically (i.e. survived a winter).

Hunt the way you want but don't come here pontificating about how you are some almighty pillar of ethics while denigrating the hunt of a 14 year old..

of course he got all 3 they were pets and just wanted to play.... a seasoned hunter or even a properly trained young hunter would have known something was up and would also know his neighbor had pet deer.

I'm still trying to figure out what pets you are talking about. Or did you read "corn pile" into it?

Geez, this is turning into the Buttons thread, take 2.
Maybe if that lady wasn't treating wild animals as pets they wouldn't be in someone's freezer (this year).

Just because my post count is low doesnt make me a noob to hunting.

The ONLY reason they do not advocate the taking of deer under 1yr of age is POLITICAL not BIOLOGICAL. Anti's would trumpet the "evils" of a government advocating the killing of fawns even though the fawns are the ones that can be killed with the least detriment to the deer herd.

Why don't they hunt whitecoated seals? Is it because dead seals with white coats will upset the natural balance while those with gray will not?

No. It's because white seals are cuter and red blood is very vivid against white fur. In other words its politics and optics not science that has made that determination. Same with PUBLICLY released wildlife management plans.

You are a noob here. A few minutes of reading posts would have given you the idea of how edicts from morally indignant twits get recieved around here.

I see this as they are their pets but it may also mean they have been feeding them to bring them around in which they were doomed like stated before.

My mistake, didn't read that part of the post. That lady should not have been feeding them anyway or tried to treat them as pets for a variety of reasons. Not the least of which is the fact it ain't fair to the animal. Sure, they're all cute and cuddly and probably gave the lady the warm and fuzzies. Loose the fear of humans and they end up meat on the table a little sooner than others. Too bad, so sad. We don't feed the deer around here, they are afraid, very afraid. And sadly we don't have a doe season in my part of the Kootenays. I'd trade a big old buck for a doe and a couple of yearlings any day.

srt,

What do you think about shooting a calf moose? Its done more often then not in BC, as most areas allow it.
