So, I was at a gun auction today and saw an SVT-40 there. She was missing the muzzle break and cleaning rod, had a cut mag and Bubba added a butt pad for some odd reason, so I bet you're wondering "Why the hell would you bid on THAT?" Here's a few pics.

Now, none of that screams out rare to you, am I right? Well, these pics might change your mind:

"Hey! You got a Finn capture! Nice, but how is that DOUBLY rare?" Well....

She's also an early 1940 Podolsk (Kovrov)! According to The Book, we can see that this plant produced very few SVT-40's in that year when compared to Tula and Izhevsk:

Now I just need to get some parts and restore this Soviet piece of history to her former glory, comrades! :)

Ahhh an old globco sporter. I had one identical. Sadly they were something rare, but bringing that one back will be money and will never again be a matching finn capture SVT. A cool piece as is though in a SVT collection.

Sure looks like the barrel is all there. I might need to do some more homework, but that doesnt look like a globeco .303 conversion to me.

It is NOT 303. They look different. They made 303, and x54r ones.

The barrel is most definitely cut, it will not ever retain the cleaning Rod, nor cycle properly.

In this config the gas port is right at the end, it's supposed to have another 4 inches of barrel.

I've owned an identical one. Hard to resto, didn't cycle worth a f**k. And didn't hold in a cleaning Rod. Lol.

why would they make them in x54r there was next to no ammo in country for that at the time

The one I had ran fine, up until it launched the front sight off the gas block. I ended up stripping it for parts, I still have the barrelled receiver somewhere, it to is SA marked.
