Doubly Rare SVT-40

The muzzle extension it is called, brake/lug/etc is theaded on, and liked in place at the gas port but the mizzle extension key. Which needs to be punched out before the extension will turn.

second that. you may be able to get away with putting a new extension on, but would not be original. gonna need a donor. Anybody changed the barrel on one of these?

Youve got two options.

Get a barrel from a refurb here and part out the rest.
Or leave the barrel cut and it will just be a visible resto, won't shoot very well.

I actually sold an SVT barrel in the fall for like $30 lol.

I Bought an SVT 40 years ago but at the time I was in school and couldn't afford to shoot the thing so I sold it for what I paid for it. 300 bucks. I knew it was a Kovrov (I think 1941 if my memory serves me right) and that it had grooves cut into the receiver but wasn't notched for a scope mount. I found out after that the grooves and the fact that it was a Kovrov made it a bit more valuable. Just curious how much i got burned on it for?

Podolsk, not Kovrov. Podolsk 1941 without grooves is more scarce than 1941 Podolsk with grooves. Hard to say if you got burned.. depends on time, place, condition..

Just call it a "Tanker SVT-40 Tokarev", for those rough and cold days on the Russia Front with Olga and a bottle of Vodka, and in a T-34 against a Tiger!

So, I was at a gun auction today and saw an SVT-40 there. She was missing the muzzle break and cleaning rod, had a cut mag and Bubba added a butt pad for some odd reason, so I bet you're wondering "Why the hell would you bid on THAT?" Here's a few pics.

Now I just need to get some parts and restore this Soviet piece of history to her former glory, comrades! :)

there is still enough of the original barrel to make a carbine length barrel . but if it was me I would restore it with the barrel as is . most likely the gas port was opened up and a new muzzle assembly should work if you open up the front end.
