Doubly Rare SVT-40

Worst gas block ever.

I had one of those globeco's, barrel has been shortened and I believe the cleaning rod retainer won't work if you replace the muzzle break

Basically together the cleaning rod retainer and the cleaning rod would keep each other in place, though with the rod removed the retainer would just fall out.

I posted somewhere else about restoring this exact Globeco model, didn't break the bank too much actually...

It's pretty much the only Globeco that can be reasonably restored, so worth a shot I suppose.

It is NOT 303. They look different. They made 303, and x54r ones.

The barrel is most definitely cut, it will not ever retain the cleaning Rod, nor cycle properly.

In this config the gas port is right at the end, it's supposed to have another 4 inches of barrel.

I've owned an identical one. Hard to resto, didn't cycle worth a f**k. And didn't hold in a cleaning Rod. Lol.

I had one of these in 7.62x54 as well. Actually ran down a muzzle attachment before i realized that the barrel was cut back and it couldn't be restored without a new barrel...sold it off for what i paid for it and wrote it off to learning experience.

Wow...looking at the pics from the first post...the barrel does look bobbed. As someone said, there needs to be 4" or so of bbl past the gas cylinder hole for the action to function. And it looks like it ends right there.
