Douglas barrels

Ron is still in business, but I'm not sure just how much he is doing in the process himself.
His son and grandson(?) are helping him.
The last one I got from him was a few years back, he rebareled a highwall in .260 for me and did a wonderful job 🙂

RKS made some great barrels and they were cut too. Unfortunately, he didn't lap, so they could foul like a bugger when new. Mick McPhee didn't lap either.

I heard that before.
None of my RKS (9 at least )or McPhee barrels (6) fouled any worse than my Kriegers or Douglas barrels

I can’t argue. I knew of many RKS that shot like a house on fire. Mick was a friend of mine, and we chatted many times about the whole lapping thing.

Mick and I talked on the phone regularly.
It always did seem a bit confusing to e that some people would not use a barrel because it was not lapped, etc., or that a bore scope should anything but a mirror finished bore regardless of how it shot! LOL
Mick once barreled up an RKS in 6.5/284 for me on a Browning B78 . I had it done for my son.
The first 6 shots out of it were fired each from a dead cold , cleaned barrel with alternating holds- one free recoil, the other with a soft shoulder hold. All 6 were well inside 1/2 inch when overlapped .
The free recoil group was .250
That is basically from a hunting rifle!
