Doug's first mule deer

You guys do realise you can send them to me and I'll put em up for ya right?

Stopped in at D&R while I went through T-Bay Bob, couple of 1899's but nothing to drool over, a 250-3000 pretty banged up and a way to high price tag on it. Didn't make it out to the little gun shop by the Minn border, wish I'd had more time.

Here's the pics guys.

......yes it is nice and flat here, perfect for a Remington 700 Classic in the flat shooting and powerful .300 H&H................ 8)

Stay tuned, there are pics that we may or may not be able to send from here (???heck I do not understand digital cameras), and no doubt more tales of mayhem.

Far be it from me to announce to the world what happened to Bob today.....

Doug

.....I think I recognize that rifle!! Congrats!!

Back to John Y............nope, I am home, and have been for a week. But I am still going to miss the moose hunt. I decided not to go, when:

a. we did not get an adult tag; and

b. I spent a goodly portion of my brownie points on the BC mule deer hunt....

So I am goose hunting and bow-hunting for white-tails. Saturday was our opener here and I was out morning and evening, but it is WAYYYYYY too hot. Yesterday it hit 26 or 27 degrees, stupid hot for trying to even think about hanging a deer....

Doug

PS to RobP) That rifle has gone to a good home. Or more precisely, it stayed at one. 8)

back to Salty..........

I am an incurable optimist (surprise! 8) ) and so I took a large (100 quart) cooler out with me as one piece of checked luggage. Inside it I had brought a couple dozen fresh corn on the cob for Larry and Mary, a few other little goodies, and also a gift for bone collector. My other piece of checked luggage was a duffle bag. I had mailed out the rifle and some of my hunting stuff (knife, sling, binos, etc etc) previously so I did not have that hassle going through four airports.........

I had planned on leaving the rifle out west and so mailed back a bunch of other stuff in my gun case. I got 55 lb of meat in the cooler, and the other 45 lb of meat into my duffel bag, wrapped in my seater, wool pants, etc etc. My carry-on pack was fairly substantial as well, and I wore my heavy hunting boots and hunting jacket. (Like I needed them in the short-sleeve weather........ )

So my two pieces of checked luggage on the flight home were just on the maximum weight (and maybe the sweet young lady at the PG airport allowed somewhat more on the duffel bag...)

So I brought home a hundred pounds of meat as checked luggage, at no additional cost! :D Air Canada would have charged me $150 to bring home the antlers, and some larger amount for the meat if I had declared it as "bounty" from the hunt.

PPPPPP

It pays to travel light eh Doug

Reminds me of when I was a kid and took about 40 lbs of Razer clams back from the Charlottes in my carry on bag. Man that plane couldn't get there quick enough as my packing skills weren't that great and my bag was getting wet and starting to smell like low tide by the end of the trip
