I challenge anybody to top this in stupidity; it'll be pretty hard:

"Hunting is not fair! Why don't you give the animals guns too, then it would be even"

I've heard it from people who [apparently] can dress themselves.

What anti-hunting comments have you heard?

I'd say the one that really bothers me is people who think hunters are sadistic. I sense some sort of delusions of moral superiority among those who chose to remain ignorant.

Not really a comment I guess, but after a few wobbly pops :Dmy uncle and I came up with popcorn rabbit one afternoon. Just like KFC popcorn chicken, but rabbit. We cooked a couple of rabbits and had bowls sitting on the table and everyone was eating it, saying how great it was, one lady ate a whole bowl, not realizing it was rabbit and then when she found out she actually vomited. Couldn't possibly eat a cute furry bunny, only suicidal chickens are ok.:jerkit::rolleyes::p

I think we need to add fishing into this whole "hunting is cruel/PETA" thing.

You raise a very good point.. I have actually filleted (sp?) live fish... I didnt even think twice.. very strange, i now kill them just to keep it on the humane side.. Fishing might actually be worse than hunting when it comes to ethics or w.e you call it.

You see people using those hooks to haul in big fish.. let them sit on the boat suffocating, bury them in the sand alive etc.. LOL

not to mention the minnows/frogs/leaches/worms,or what ever bait gets the hook up its ass to catch this fish:eek:..but thats all cool with them yuppie tree hugging cork sucking hippo,s:eek:

There's a lady down the road that knows I hunt. I've always politely asked to hunt her property because it abuts mine and many neighbours farms I hunt. She's always very rude and short with me about it, but I remain polite and thank her anyways. I ask her evry spring and fall knowing what the answer will be. I live in a small community and have heard a couple times about her talking #### about how I just kill animals because I can and she won't have any part of it. Raccoons, deer, coyotes, turkeys etc never did anything to hurt her, why should she help me hurt them. That's fine, I can handle old-lady gossip.

..Well wouldn't you know it in the middle of diner tonight I get a phone call, it's this lady. There's a very agressive and possibly rabid raccoon in the middle of her paddock chasing her horses and would I PLEASE come down right away and shoot it before it hurts her horses.

I felt like saying, "her raccoons never hurt me..."

But I didn't, I put my fork down and left my family at the table to help this rude lady down the road because it was the right thing to do. I grabbed my .30 carbine knowing that it was a bit of overkill (so she didn't see a coon flipping and bleeding all over) and it's farly quiet as to not startle the horses. She was very grateful. I disposed of the carcass and went home.

I don't think I'll ask her if I can hunt her property when deer season rolls around this year. I'm not a big fan of only being useful when the anti's deem it so.

dumb anti comment

I had a guy tell me that hunting is wrong and the animals suffer. He told me that I should buy my steaks from the local Safeway and stop torturing animals. I took him for a little tour of one of the local farms that processes chickens and beef for sale. I took him around back and he watched in horror as beef were led into a gate and the animals head was secured in a clamping device. Then the guy standing above positioned a large metal spike over the brain of the bewildered critter, he then hit the spike with a heavy wooden mallot. The beef hit the floor with its head still attached to the device and it was spitting blood and crapping all over the loading chute. After the animal hit the floor it was raised by the head with a pulley and then the guts were taken out while the critter was still quivering. After the guts fell on the processing floor ,the heart , kidneys, and other internal organs were taken out of the gutpile. In the pile there was sheep heads, beef heads, turkey, pig, and other body parts in a big pile on the floor. I then asked him if I should buy my beef at Safeway or is hunting really as bad as what he just witnessed. He said to me...."At least the deer have a chance to get away"
He never mentioned anything about hunting to me ever again. Although he doesn't hunt, I still go fishing with him when I get to town.

When I get the anti hunting/gun comments I just say, "it sounds like you are pretty prejudiced". And when they say "damn right" I say, "the only thing I know is that before you can be prejudiced, racially or otherwise, you have to be IGNORANT". It does wonders. I then offer to introduce them to guns or answer whatever questions they might have, as best I can and as POLITELY as I can (hard sometimes). Remember we are all ambassadors of the shooting sports and there are more than enough anti-gun people out there. It only takes a moment to change a mind (for better or worse)

I was in London England last summer and one day they had a whole 5 page report in the paper about how all fishing should be banned...and then there was the article about how bachelors shouldn't be able to live alone because they use too much power...

"We love you, and we don't want you to make the wrong choices that would prevent you from going to heaven"

-My mother upon me telling her that while I had no immediate plans to go hunting, I don't have a problem with it in general. So now God's against it.

For the record, I do believe in God and loosely follow Christian values in my life, but I know for a damn fact there's nothing anti-hunting in the Bible. If anything, it probably condones it somewhere. Unbelievable, just unbelievable. Either that, or every butcher is going to hell ;).

How about, "I'm a vegetarian (vegan...whatever) 'cause I don't believe in killing animals.":runaway:
Totally ignorant of the facts: Clearing many thousands of acres of natural vegetation/habitat to grow crops, then using herbicides and pesticides.... all kills wildlife.... all the way down the foodchain!

BTW: Peta already protests fishing. I've seen the ads with a giant fishhook airbrushed into the mouth of a resisting Irish Setter, with the caption "How is it any different?"

be cause all you have to say is here boy and the dog comes to you fish don't do that :p

didn't here this in person
"arson vandolism violance are all acceptable as long as they are used for the animal cause."

next time someone asks me "why do you eat meat?" i'll say well cause i'm an irish celtic druid and tradtionaly the celts ate beef so since i am following in there footsteps i'm going to have a nice juicy steak enjoy your steak

not all pagans are vegan which actualy has nothing to do with traditional indo europian prechristain beliefs

when asked "why do you hunt" i will say "cause if i wish the gods to grant me the right to eat meat i mist be able to kill to do so as how can one deserve to eat meat when they can't live with the act of taking life"

i wanna go up to someone from peta and ask them why they suppor t the murder seeing as so fary this month peta has killed more animals then i have in my entire life

my sister said that we shouldn't use guns cause it is inhumaine, instead use bows and rocks. if only she knew how dad use to have the cows killed.
ignorance breads stupidity.

Telling the pagans "Never again the Burning Times!" sounds one hell of a lot more credible if you're holding a loaded firearm might help the point across too...
