I've found the anti's think hunting is just a matter of going into the bush and shooting. They don't seem to understand that Bambi lives in the bush and everything wants to eat him. The same anti's will kill a snake or spider in a heart beat.

I just point out that moose only ever die in three ways;

1 - they are ripped apart and eaten by wolves or grizzlies (most of the time)
2 - they starve and freeze to death slowly in winter when old (sometimes)
3 - I shoot them and they die quickly and humanely

Then I ask the person what option they would chose if they were the moose.
Then they shut up.

I agree with all of you......I've actually heard pretty much all of them.....one guy I work with is slightly O.K. with it when I bowhunt but is horrified when I go on gun hunts. Personally I think my Bloodbrother Ted Nugent explains the near perfection that killing your own meat(the way God intended it) rather than hiring an "assassin" to do it for you, is a celebration of hands-on conservation!!!!

Although it's not totally anti hunting, my favorite comes from bow hunters: "It's not hard to hit a deer with a rifle. Try a bow." Me: "So sitting and waiting for it to come 20 feet away from you is ok? Try shooting a deer as it's goin warp chicken across the field at 300yds after you just jumped over a fence and...." and it goes on like that.
I don't have any problem with bow hunters, it's just that sitting hours on end in a tree stand just isn't my idea of a good time. If you can sit still like that and draw a bow without it hearing you, all the more power to you. Just don't berate that the way I do it. Also, at the rate I drink coffee, there wouldn't be much time actually in the stand.

I think we need to add fishing into this whole "hunting is cruel/PETA" thing.

You raise a very good point.. I have actually filleted (sp?) live fish... I didnt even think twice.. very strange, i now kill them just to keep it on the humane side.. Fishing might actually be worse than hunting when it comes to ethics or w.e you call it.

You see people using those hooks to haul in big fish.. let them sit on the boat suffocating, bury them in the sand alive etc.. LOL

Very true i actually caught a six pound tow ounce walley this summer , got it to the boat & noticed i had hooked it in the eye . It was delicious though
