Dumping our C7

Is this really dumping? Equipment a foreign country's military will modernized rifles is more of a 'humanitarian' type ploy that countries use IMO.

unstable goverment and a warlord class. the rifles will soon be deverted. same as rice and wheat to africa.

Folks these rifle have been in ANA hands for a fair while now. Many of the ANA I worked beside last year had a C7A1 in his hands. It's a point of pride to the Kandak to be issued them.

C7 + No CLP + no gun care = Dead ANA
There not ready for a high mataince weapon yet

Odd my C7A2 was not high maintenance, I have seen more dead Taliban with jammed AKs than dead ANA with jammed weapons, how is that....oh yeah the ANA are a trained Army.

And I had absolutely no problems with my C8 either. Extremely light lubing, paintbrush and compressors and the action was silk-smooth the whole time through.

And having seen ANA issued with C7's, they had the original ones with the fixed stock and the iron sights, not C7A1's with the flat-top/rail. And those guys feel really good about themselves since they see being issued a "modern" (read: Western) rifle as a status symbol of some sort.

Holly crap batman!!!

They are replacing them because the AK47 are jamming?
If you are having problems keeping an AK running what makes them think a C7 is going to be any better?

The AKs in question are usually early soviet manufacture - the better part of 50 years old, in heavy use in harsh environments, often with jury rigged repairs and zero maintenance. Like any machine, after a certain point they just deteriorate beyond reliable use.
AKs are reliable sure... but they still wear out after awhile. Look at the bright side; eventually ALL the guns out there will break, and the Afghans will go back to fighting with rocks and sticks.

Nah, they'll just keep banging out cottage industry pieces from sheds in Pakistan like they've been doing for ages.

Yes but you keep your rifle lubed and you clean it and the CF gives you CLP and swabs. The ANA have cleaning supplies from us but when we leave am sure budget cuts will kick in. AKs are more durable and cheaper the the C7 Not better just will last longer in the hands of a 3rd world country.

Also I do alot of work on the C7 to keep it running when your not using it "Wpns Tech"

one more thing

5.56 is pricey
7.62x39 is cheap

and having half the ANA using AKs and half us C7s will be a F&*king nightmare for ammo logisticly

I'm not sure if it was dirty ammo, but on the range with the C7,
I got up to 60-70 rounds down range when the bolt carrier only
went half way forward to load the next round.Upon inspection,
the carrier was caked in carbon.Maybe the C7 was well used,I
lost some points to come in second,Then on another occasion,
I drew a C7 for a blank fire exercise in Meaford,I fired in excess
of 200 rounds without a hiccup.Maintenance helps,but the old C7's
a higher amount of cleaning.

A retarded hamster can armorer a C7

ANA and IA can use and are using the M16FOW to great effect.

793 rds fired thru 1 x M110 SASS last week by USMC Scout Snipers - suppressed
no cleaning - all within 4.5 hours

thats a 7.62x51 NATO gun, 5.56mm guns run cleaner still

I've been using the M16FOW for over 20 years, been in a few gun fights with them too -- I would still stake my life on the platform.
