I would get a Matte or Flat clearcoat and do that before I would sandpaper it.
Not a bad idea. I'll look into it..
Any product recommendations? If I can just buy a spraypaint like product to put over it it would make things easier, plus probably cheaper than the clearcoat duracoat stuff.
If it is just a clear coating that I can sand I'm less picky as long as it doesn't ruin the appearance.

Honestly, in my paint newbieness I was worried that it would effect any tolerances, etc. If it is safe to do so I wouldn't mind throwing on a thin coat of dark green.

It will never be an automotive quality finish, you will always have ridges. If you go sanding it you are inviting bad things to happen to you.
Sendero gave you the info you need on clearcoat.

There really is not much of any ridges in the coats except in areas where I put on too much paint., I don't mind a bit of texture, I just want it less glossy
In some areas you can't even feel the difference between the stencils, especially on the stock and barrel.
The reason I wanted to lightly sand it was more to rough it up so it was less shiny.
I'll do a proper clear matte coat then see if I need to do any light sanding. I'll just use a fine paper like 400 or 600 grit

Its going to be another week guys at least. I'm waiting for my clear coat and my accu-shot stuff to get here and I won't be able to put it on till this weekend if it arrives before then, otherwise it will be next week!
