Duracoat help Cz 858/ Vz 58s

Would it be a bad idea to paint right over the factory paint with Duracoat?
My rifle is new and doesn't have any blemishes, etc. or would the paint not adhere properly?

Probably not a bad idea. Just scuff it up nicely, prime and paint.

Well, just got a new 858, took it out for the first range day, and didnt notice but the paint bubbled and started to come off, 60 rounds down it and thats all...not too impressed by the enamel finish. I will be duracoating this as soon as I have the chance.

let me know on the outcome.

I am going out to the bush tommorow so i checked mine and i got some rust forming on my gastube cover time to buz that ##### down and pore 15 that mofo!

I tried every paint/chemical stripper on the market and couldnt even get the paint to start coming off...Eventually I had a sandblaster intervention. Duracoat from Fabsports comes with a compressed cartridge and works really well; but I think he's stopped selling it from what I read on a Norinco thread. In retrospect Im 99.89 % sure that a light sandblast to scuff the paint followed by duracoat would be fine, but I wanted to get rid of all the rough tool marks.

Sorry I cant post pic's...if someone else will post them Ill email a few off... just PM me your email address.

Since you asked Mac, I am waiting from my 'source' to reply as to when new 58 wooden furniture will be offered. :) I have made two buttstock, a pistol grip and a Romanian type foregrip - so it can be done with the right tools.

Add a nice black duracoat and Shazam!

hmm duracoat in a can?, i dont have a compressor or spray gun any ideas?

in a can = sucks.

Imagine clogged nozzle after first spray and spatter the size of raindrops. You need a compressor and spray gun.

Princess Auto sells cheap spray guns (as in $10 range) I toss these after use.

Now you just need the compressor :)

Google Badger. They sell spray gun kits that you hook up to a can of compressed air. No need to buy a compressor. Worked real nice on my 870P shotgun. Cost about $30 if I remember correctly.
