I received my barrel today from (Ronin). I quickly put it on my 10/22 and zipped to the range. Overall, I am impressed. I have a hogue overmolded stock on order, but I am almost wondering about keeping it in this butler creek one(Bull barrel), as for the most part it is free floated in this stock. I managed to take some pics:

The barrel is threaded (1/2 x 28 tpi Thread) and comes with a thread protector.

10 shots @ 15M.

10 shots @ 15M.

I put about 400 rounds down range. I only had a few ammo related stoppages. Any concerns I may have had about it cycling reliably due to its shortness have been alleviated. I am really liking it. This will be a handy lil package for grousing. It is also fairly accurate. Pic's above are a couple of groups, which were done with a warmed up barrel. I was also able to consistently hit the gong at 100M. I'll have a few vids up in a bit.

Thanks again Ronin:D

Whom is this great Ronin, and where does one send their barrel for this treatment? How much does one pay for a shortening of this sort?
Your input is appreciated.

Like PC9 said - it's an aftermarket barrel manufactured to that length.

visit (Ronin)'s store @ www.tacshot.ca

and the barrel is steel

Could I get my barrel shortened like that? Its legal if a gun smith does it, right? Thats just what i need!

I see you are shooting at Selkirk. That's my home range too :) .

I got mine today also

The problem with these barrels is actually proving that they are an ER SHAW factory made 11.5" barrel....there are no manufacturers marking on them and no length marked on them, the caliber is not even marked on them...

Unless you have an actual bill of sale from ER Shaw with an ER Shaw part # on it, a judge will be hard pressed to believe the story..I don't think a bill of sale from a third party will cut it...

Or, if you ran afoul of the law, you could ask ER SHAW to submit a letter stating that they did produce 11.5" heavy barrels for Ruger 10/22's and that these barrels had no markings. You don't have to prove you're innocent - the prosecutors have to prove you guilty. That said, I would prefer it if the barrels were marked so that it hopefully wouldn't get to court.

This same thing can work against someone actually breaking the law however. If someone were to cut a Ruger factory (marked) barrel down to 14" or 11.5", the prosecutors could submit evidence that Ruger never produced such a barrel.

I like the barrel, and I fully trust Ronin, it's just that....

do you not have to change the registration documentation if you take the barrel below 16 inches and leave it that way for over a month? I know in theory you can always "change back" and thereby stay out of trouble, but...please set my weary mind at ease?

Thanks as always!

You have a shorty AR?? have a peek, lots of them have no markings.
Lots of barrels floating around that are unmarked. And even more that do not state the length on them.

Now if it had a jagged edge that suggested it was sawn off,or you seemed to have the only short barrel of it's kind in existence, then you'd have a problem.
There are tons of these around.

And correct me if i'm wrong, but you don't have to prove you didn't.They have to prove you did.
