E.R. Shaw 11.5" barrel for the 10/22. Review & Pics. <Now Stainless!>

I like the barrel, and I fully trust Ronin, it's just that....

do you not have to change the registration documentation if you take the barrel below 16 inches and leave it that way for over a month? I know in theory you can always "change back" and thereby stay out of trouble, but...please set my weary mind at ease?

Thanks as always!

Not for rimfires. With rimfires, it's only the OAL that determines if it's a restricted or non-restricted. Barrel length is irrelevant (provided it's a manufactured barrel and hasn't been chopped down by anybody).

You have a shorty AR?? have a peek, lots of them have no markings.
Lots of barrels floating around that are unmarked. And even more that do not state the length on them.

Now if it had a jagged edge that suggested it was sawn off,or you seemed to have the only short barrel of it's kind in existence, then you'd have a problem.
There are tons of these around.

And correct me if i'm wrong, but you don't have to prove you didn't.They have to prove you did.

Not only that, but the barrel is made to the utmost quality. I have one of the Ronin specials myself, (pics are coming in a few days bud!) and the barrel screams professional work. The finish, the threading...I would laugh if anyone was stupid enough to think this barrel wasn't made by a company who knew what they were doing.

True, someone with the right tools could make something similar in their basement...but these barrels are too damn primo for their own good.

As for the 15 meter shooting, Nine, you really need to take that target back to 50m and beyond! I was pegging beer bottles with the target rifle you sold me, at 75m. ;)

It's where the target stand was at the time. Look at the vids, I'm not wading around in that mess! :p

I was shooting at a jug at 50M, no prob, and the "gong" which is an approx 10" steel plate at 100M. For my purposes, plinking and grouse ops, this is the cat's ass! I can't wait to lug this thing around in the bush. :D

The ER shaw barrel has no sight dovetail cut, so exactly how are they going to prove its not a factory made 11.5?

I love mine on my crapco stock;

Still 1" over the OAL limit.

Nice pics and vids. I'm interested in seeing what this barrel can do @ 50m. I may have to buy another 10/22.

This is how the CQB'ers roll ;)

Both the barrel and the flash hider are from Tacshot.ca

I understand (Ronin) is gonna be getting a lot more goodies in for us in the next little while. Keep your eyes peeled.

;)

Ronin is very fast in shipping.

But he promised me a krink brake with 1/2"-28 tpi thread
long long time ago,
and now all he is sending me
is hate mail and death threats thru PM ;)

Also got my 11.5" shaw barrel from TacShot.ca (Ronin)... looks great. Now i just need a damn 10/22 !

BTW, I know the chamber is desgined for .22LR, but is it possible to fire .22 short in a 10/22 equipped with that barrel ? will this generate too much pressure in the chamber ?

Don't believe it'll generate more pressure- but it won't cycle itself. VQ sells a kit -different springs, etc, special mags to do .22 shorts in it. Bear in mind that you'll foul up the chamber so you will probably have to clean it before you go back to .22LR

Thanks Nine for posting the pictures. I got a barrel from (Ronin) as well and ordered a Boyd's SS evolution stock for it. While waiting for this stock I was going to chop an old Ruger wood stock but after seeing your setup i'll just use a Butler creek that's been sitting unused watiting for me to put it up on the EE.

pc9,
Where abouts in the valley are you? I'm always looking for fellow valley blasters to come over to shoot some steel at my home range. Send me a PM if you are interested in some friendly competition.

I picked up one of these short barrels off the EE before Ronin started selling them. They are NEAT! IMO - One of the coolest accessories for the 10/22.

Buy one now! You won't be sorry.
