EAL .303 Rifle value?

Yes SN is in the 6### range, and I realize that these were done to a higher grade of finish.

I was hoping to show the quality of work.

Others mileage my differ, But for me your rifle appears to have uneven surfaces and differences in finish where the ears where.

The OP`s is a better (hard to tell by the pics) but I think I see evidence of file marks close to the rear of the receiver.

There is some question in my mind about who made the military contract EAL's.

The Canadian Arsenals catalogue people have posted in the past showed military style EAL's as one of their products.

I wonder if S.T. Francis and Sons made the earlier versions, and then CA took over for the mil contract stuff?

Pure conjecture on my part, but fueled by this picture from the CA catalogue.

I was just told that a large retailer received a largish order of EAL rifles in 1966. It was said that this was the last order that would be coming.

And then...that picture is from the 1967 CA catalogue.

I'm thinking maybe CA took the work back to fulfil a military contract? (and that civilian production of them ceased)

Hey...maybe S.T. Francis and sons only made the civilian and buckhorn sight variations...and CA made all of the later ones with the barrel knox mounted 200/400 flip sight (military style).??

Note that the special 5 round mags on the mil style always have a CA proof on them, as did all of the rifles.

Ax, what is the serial number range of your rifle? I have one like the OP's posted one, receiver sight ears machined off the same. Prbably much earlier than yours.

vinver, do you have any detailed pics of your receiver and rear barrel sight?

I would not be surprised that EAL did some. Just have not seen any that did not looked messed with in some way.
