Eal .303 - ???

Most assuredly a military EAL. S/N is in the right range and it has all the military hallmarks.

Do you have the 5 round mag for it?

It has the typical EAL high gloss bluing.

The forend at the rear has no patches, repairs or tie strap. I've seen them multiple different ways.

Not a bad looking rifle at all!

These military ones are rare and hard to find, not that any of them are easy, but these ones are much rarer than the lower s/n Commercial style.

I was given this Rifle last week.

E.A.L. .303 there is a Ca type stamping on the top of the barrel near the breach.

200/400 rear flip sight.
front post sight, adjustable for windage.
red anti-flinch recoil pad.

I've detail stripped it entirely, parts look and work great.
its been oiled, and cleaned again.

I've taken it to the range and fired 20 rounds through this rifle. It shoots very accurately to 100m. Groupings 3rnds that I can cover with 1 or 2 patches.



Any info to the History would be great.

Cantom - Thanks for posting those pics for me. I'll get you the ones you requested after diner. I have the original sling and posts. I removed them when I detail stripped/cleaned the rifle. The Blueing is very glossy. I do not have a magazine for this rifle. I would love to find an original for it. - any suggestions?

EAL parts are found right beside the Rocking Horse Poo at Home Hardware...
You'll very rarely find any part for them...I've tried.

And btw, if you find the right 5 round mag, please get one for me too...

Thanks to you nice folks north of the border, I have both the civillian and the military version.

They turned out to be a complete bust when issued to the Rangers. So much so, that the gubmint had to go out and buy back No4's they had flogged off to the surplus dealers to re-equip them. The EAL's just couldn't stand up to the service required.

Very nice rifle? Is the a serial number on the bolt? When the forend was removed did you see lighting grooves cut in the barrel channel? Is the a swivel inletted in the forend? Have not seen any EAL without the reinforcing tie plate however these are unusual guns.

If you don't have the correct 5 shot mag you can one fabricated. If you want the dimensions pls PM and I'll measure mine. Very difficult item to find and having one made is going to cost a few $'s.

My EAL, #6589 is supposedly one of the Ranger issues. It has the tie strap covered, although it's still there.

So, had it looked over by a gun smith - he hands it back to me and says "go see how it fires!"

kneeling position, bowling pins at 100m are an easy target. The trigger is still smooth, long travel to break the shot, recoil is pleasing, a joy to fire.
