A friend of mine just scored this extremely mint EAL military model. I could only wish it was mine...not a mark on the bolt face, perfect wood and metal, very high gloss bluing...appears unissued. I had a very close look at it and couldn't find a flaw.(as usual the digital pics find dents and rust that you can't see in person)
When these were new the bluing was just like on a high grade Browning or old S&W pistol...

I handled a similar rifle a no.1 mk3 with 1950-60 era sporteizing, it had the identical leaf sights as that but had a functioning tang mounted safety.
I never understood how the gunsmith was able to fabricate such a safety, and it would have been impolite to dissamble the gun for a look see.
Nice gun by the way.

On your pictures i can see, that the barrel is bedded for accuracy.
Is this normal procedure for this rifles?...or did somebody give it an overhaul?...
 
This rifle has been glass bedded
I hope the fore-end was not free floated.
CAI ensured there was foretip pressure at the tip of the forestock.
If the rifle has been free floated then this rifle now qualifies as a milsurp wearing sporter wood.

Very nice EAL. There were only about 7000 of them made. The sights were mentioned, but a lot of the Military models had a 5 round magazine, and the civilian ones a 10 round one.

If anyone is interested, Wolverine Supplies, in Virden, Manitoba, (a sponsor advertiser for this forum) had one in their used gun rack about a week ago.

I just hit their link at the top of the page. It is still listed........$675.
