Haw! Yeah, took some convincing, alright, but every time I look at it, I like it more. I'd like to go shorter, though...

I spent part of yesterday staring at it and thinking "How square is that? How tapered is the barrel? If I put a square on it, mark any high spot w/a sharpie, carefully attack it with a file..."

I've been considering a hillbilly crown job - fine tapered Dremel stone, low speed, followed by one of those little tapered felt dealies with the polishing goo... Figure if I bugger it up, I still have an inch and a half of "fixum" space for an actual gunsmith to work with.

And hey - I bet there isn't a gunsmith on the planet who's ever had a guy walk in with a sheepish look on his face and a Dremelized wreck in his hands. Might be a unique experience for him.:D

I'm thinking "Awesome", is an understatement!

Hungry, the interrupted elk hunt (wink, wink, nod, nod.. don't schedule these things for Nov) and 6 hours driving time was well worth the time and effort. Too much happened in one day for me to absorb, so please sign me up for the Calgary Clinic in Apr.

SOSA, thanks for organizing all the perks (indexing, unitizing, parkerizing, pizza) and thanks again for delivering my ammo purchase to me! That op rod spring guide you sold me, really smoothed things out.

Many thanks to Holleyman, who very patiently helped me replace all the bad roll pins on my rifle. Replacing the mag release latch pin (which turned out to be half a pin) solved all of my mag release issues.

To the rest, It was nice to meet you all. Hope to cross paths with you again... in the field, at the range, or at another clinic.

For those who missed the clinic, look down and check, for sure your dicks fell off!!!!

Trust me.... I'll be back (starting to sound like ARNIE, the Governor of Kalifornia :D)

I'll be floating this idea in a month or 2. I'm so wrapped up in getting the 17 Jan 2009 Barrie clinic going, and then the 21 March 2009 Ottawa clinic off the ground.

The hard part is having the pointman of the hosting city/town/gun club nail down a date to use the clubhouse/classroom/facility/range/quonset. Once we get these cemented, then I can organize the attendance and learning material (whether we can rebarrrel, weld, glassbed, or testfire). That's basically the pattern of running these clinics. Regarding the time constraint(s), my wife is so kind to let me away for one weekend a month as long as I'm not running too many Service Rifle / Sniper Rifle / Carbine/ Pistol / CQB matches ;) Yeeeeha!!
 
Geez...I just had an offer of 2 more (still in cozmoline/boxes) new M-14s. Unfortunately I got laid off from the managerial position I was in and offered a warehouse position at a MUCH lower salary. :(
But at 50 yrs old in Albertas present economy, its a friggen job at least. So I didn't bulls**t the guy and told him straight up thanks for the offer but no...I can't afford it.
I'd be on the gun bristling band wagon for another seminar had I got them.
