Edmonton Gun stores?

My memories of Wholesale are: Airborne_69 being knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly on the one hand, and on a seperate visit being told things about Mossberg shotguns that were on the level of "We don't stock them so they obviously suck." Very varied experiences there.

No, I don't even know who that is. I don't work there very often... more of just helping out when my real job allows me to be in town for awhile. I'll do some firearm repair or inspection when I'm there. Sometimes I'm behind the counter. I realize alot of people don't like Milarm... thats fine, I will never set foot in P&D. But I have never heard any staff from any shop, including Milarm, call anyone an as@%ole or any other derogatory term. Say what you want but that just makes no sense to piss off your customers. All shops are known to give unsolisited personal advice that the customer may or may not like. Take it for what its worth, then take your business elswhere or suck it up. I know that there is some strange humor coming from some staff but don't be so sensitive. If you only knew how many crazy, off meds, Colt Silver types come in and out of there in an hour you wouldn't last a day. Not to mention the difficulty to find good staff. Hell, if some of you think you can do better, offer your services, the help would be great. Anyway, I hate having to sound like some Milarm advocate, Those that do frequent the shop, and we know who you are

Seems his reputation preceeds him everywhere he goes. He's a part-timer where I work. Recent word is he's trying to get on with the RCMP.
This makes me feel safer already
No doubt they will ask him to be on their ERT sniper team the moment they interveiw him... Or better yet CSIS will recruit him for secret undercover ops.

Interesting to hear from the other side of the counter and as in life, everyone is entitled to their opinions. I do have to comment on what Scooch says about never setting foot inside our shop...you mean other other than the last three times in the last couple of months when you needed something like the rings no one else had (and the time I took to make sure you got the right ones). Come on Jeff at least be honest on this forum. If you don't like us so be it, but don't be two faced about it. I still find it amusing that you could write lots of negative stuff about us( never be specific about what your issue is) but you never have approached me to my face to let me know the problems you have encountered. It would be nice to know exactly what were being accused of. I'm sure most retailers would like feedback, positive or negative that they use to improve their business. We don't claim to be be perfect or try to be everything to every customer but I feel we listen to customers and try hard to please them. Phil.

+1 to that! Probably the best comment thus far. I have bought guns and gear from both stores but P&D gets my money 90% of the time. I am in the military currently and I have to agree that I (and others I know) have had employees at MilArm talk to me like I'm an idiot.
Well Phil fair enough. As I stated before each shop has its purpose. I have been in your shop twice in the last 3 months and its been 2 years before that, once with a mutual friend (I was driving and well, I'll admit I was curious as to how the store looked), the other because I needed rings ASAP. So maybe I am a little two faced if thats what you would like to call it. I have no direct issues with you and have never (to my recollection) made a completely negative comment about P&D other than about my experience. But I do hate getting involved in these types of disscussions. I feel as though I'm attacking to defend... if that makes any sense. But I guess I could have just not got involved. I honestly would like to patch up our differences, but they were significant. I do not really want to discuss this on line as it is personal between P&D and myself. And Phil is right, this has gone far enough, this should be hatched out between the two of us. Phil, I appologise for comments made without allowing you full ability to comment. However, we did have discussions about a couple of things two years ago. I will not appologise for the issues I have. As for the rest of the CGN community, I also appologise for bringing my personal issues onto a public forum. My grandfather always said, "If you have nothing nice to say keep you trap shut" I think I will start to take that advice.
your not the only one thats had that at milarm.. try being a 22 years old and walking in for a few things and asking for a little help on somthing your not so sure about......not such a great ending. took the extra 5 minutes down the road to our site sponsor

Hey I'm just happy we have more than one gun shop in the city, allows me to shop around. If one shop does not have it, maybe the other one will. I find the staff at Milarm are a great bunch of people, sure they'll harass you a bit but it's all in good fun, I've revieced nothing but good advice from them when I'm there regardless of the fact if I'm spending money or not. I find P&D to be an incredibly well organized store and their staff competent in helping me find the praticular product I'm looking for, The same goes for whole sale, nice staff good selection. I haven't had the oppertunity to visit lock and load but I'm sure it will be at the very least an enjoyable experience. If this thread has proven anything it's different folks prefer different strokes, we should all be happy that there are many gun shops and not just one cornering the market within this fine city of ours.

So there you have it...we can all find something to please us or not in every store we go into as personal experiences vary considerably. Jeff your welcome anytime to browse, shop, ask questions or speak to me directly about any problems you may have. I can't always guarantee everyone will be happy with the outcome but we do care because customer satisfaction goes hand in hand with sales. Phil.
99.9% for P&D. I get treated like an idiot at MilArm by people who enjoy to talk down to customers and lecture me on weapons employment stuff that they read out of some trash mag.

Also don't be ungrateful when they act charitable by offering you a miniscule Mil/LEO discount on their excessively over inflated prices in a ploy to close you on buying from them rather than other sources.
What ever happened to Big Annies Surplus in Edmonton. They had such a nice selection of dewats and the owner seemed to get some real nice enfields and enfield snipers from time to time. The place was alright for hanging around and chatting to.
