Elcan Spectre DR vs. Trijicon Accupoint1-4x24

Max would be 200 yards currently due to the range I am at only has a 200 yard haha I hadnt previously considered night force I would have to research it before I go there but I am kinda set on the accupiont I like the idea of being able to switch between 1-4 zoom. I looked up an ACOG at wanstalls I wouldnt mind it except they dont seem to have variable zoom which is a feature I bealieve I would enjoy.

TR-24 is a great scope for the cash. No lines on reticle - only negative for me. They add a acog style bdc reticle and this scope would really take off. I sold mine due to reticle.

Spectre is a great scope. 1 or 4 power really. Very minor poi change between magnifications. Follow instructions and you will be ok. Robust and heavy. I experienced no shift in poi with the scope. Reticle is fantastic. I can give a recommendation to them but it would be minor stuff. Heavy. I sold mine to go 1-6 magnification.

If you can afford it I would buy the Elcan, don't get the 7.62 reticle for a 7.62x39 though, it will be calibrated for 7.62x51.
If you are going to use it on a x39

I run the 5.56 Elcan on my 7.62x39, its not a perfect line up to say the least, but you get used to the difference and make due pretty quickly. I am switching to 5.56 as soon as wolverine replies to my email, and I think you will end up doing that also. The 7.62x39 mags just don't work reliably in the XCR from my experience, I got extremely frustrated with it so I am go to 5.56 so the gun will feed properly. the 7.62x39 ammo tends to dive and catch the mags, I did a write up in the XCR FAQ explaining what I had to do to vaguely help it work, but at the end of the day I can only run 8 rounds in the 10 round magazine to allow the rounds to feed almost every time.

I am curious if the 7.62x39 mags will feed 5.56 reliably, I figure I should be able to squeak 12 5.56 rounds in there if they feed right.

The 7.62x39 has too much taper to use in a straight mag body. That's why you are having trouble and why 300 blackout is a much better cartridge for rifles using AR mags.
You would probably need to change out the follower to use 223 in your x39 pistol mags which would prob be illegal since you are modifying the mag to work with another cartridge.
