Elegant Hunting Rifles Anyone?

Thanks Noel, I hope the others look as good, just picked the stock blanks last week.

Your HVA does look in great shape, what's the caliber?

Octagon barrel, butterknife bolt handle, perfect Length Of Pull for me, shoots wonderfully.

Latest pics of my little Brno. Someone usually "talks me out" guns like this ,so figure I better show it off while I can. I should take it out and kill a critter, that way I'd never let it go.
Cheers

Holy mother that is a nice gun. I have got a thing for 7X57. It really is an awesome caliber and has a history that is probably second to none. Military, elephants ( Karamoja Bell) as well as numerous other tales about rifles in this caliber make it truly elegant and that BRNO of yours is one nice example of a great gun in a great caliber.

Poor jacky, we mustn't let him down! :p This one went to the school of hard knocks this fall. Won't hold a candle to Geoff's for condition anymore but every mark has a story to tell.

It's an 1100 Deluxe in 30-06. Been watching for that rifle for 18 years! Built in 56.

Keep us posted on your new toys!

That is in great shape, I will keep you posted taking pix along the way for before and after shots.

That truly is a nice piece of walnut.

Just when I think I know what I want, you all come along and post some new toys for me to salivate over.

Well, I'm not a very experienced picture poster, but I'll give it a try. This is an undrilled, untapped FN Sporter in .270. I have two of these; this one in .270, and another in .30-06, both undrilled/untapped.

If this works, I might try to post a few more.

Meh...that's not great, but what the heck.

This one is a Browning Safari Grade, in .375 H&H, with a 2-digit serial number. I've always liked the wood on this one.

...and an oddball Husqvarna in .30-06 - long barrel, schnabel forend, factory cross bolt at the recoil lug, 3/4 barrel band and a checkered butt with no buttplate. It also has a strange 'peaked' rear sight that I'm really fond of.

The scuzzy lace-on recoil pad is just to protect the butt, as this one went to the range with me today. It's wickedly accurate with 200 gr. Nosler Partitions; I've examined the blind hole (scope mounting) screws with a magnifying glass, and I don't think they've ever had a screwdriver in them.

This came from the first batch that T.E.C. Trade Ex brought in - while here's no way of knowing its history, it could have passed for unfired when I got it.

Boomer, a little more info. on the rifle in the bottom two pics., it speaks to me.:)

The rifle is a Brno ZK-47 in .30/06. I haven't had much done to it except repairing a split at the tang, bedding and cross bolting, and had the stock cut to 13.5" with the new Pachmayr ventilated recoil pad. I don't like bead sights, so I had the front sight replaced with a post, and a NECG rear sight with the aperture drilled out. The sling is the Galco Safari Ching Sling, and because the swivel studs screw into internal threaded metal ferrules I didn't want to change the studs, so I simply used fiber spacers to take the slop out of the Uncle Mikes QD swivels. The stock looked a little pale when I got the rifle, so I gave it a few coats of boiled linseed oil to bring the color out. The metal work is in need of refinishing, but I haven't decided what route to take yet, a tough bake on finish or reblue.

Elegent Hunting Rifles

There should be a Bruno society as there are some outstanding 21's out there. I have two 21's at the moment one in 7X57 and 8X57. I had to add the 1941 Portuguese K98 I consider them as elegent to the military collector.
