Emilio613's CZ858 (and other gun) CAMO PAINT GUIDE!

Thanks for the reply. I did Krylon and Matte Protect my 10/22 stock and it worked well (no real heat touching it though). Good point about the 5 round mags. As long as I didnt nick or scratch it against some rock or another firearm it stood up find. I'll most likely just paint the furniture on my 858.

Sounds good! Post some pics, I'd love to see results! (As long as you want to. No pressure ;) )

Here is (was: sold it to buy the 858) my 10/22. Held up pretty well. CZ-858 I might leave red... Just because it's a Red Rifle... But I love Dark Earth... Decisions, decisions....

Here's a quick jobby I did on my mossberg 22 tacticool. Just used masking tape for the stipes. I did it in a few hours one night last winter in a cold, damp garage.

It's pretty basic, but for only spending a couple hours, and being very impatient with it. I think it turned out alright.

The main colour is kind of a mix of the dark brown and tan krylon camo paints (sprayed at the same time, mix in the air, fancy chit). It sticks great to the plastic.

I'm going to spend more time, and do a more detailed camo pattern on my 858, more like yours on the first page.

Thanks for the tips sir.
Cheers

Spanks.

Have you used the boiling water cleaning technique since you've painted your 858? I'm curious to see how it holds up to the heat.

This question may already have been asked.

Doesn't matter, even if it was, I will reply again :) hehe. I haven't, I usually clean my guns with a Quaker State spray (it's like WD40 and just dissolves everything in the barrel). The PAINT has held up fine to that so far. Nothing dissolved.

I would think boiling water MIGHT affect paint, as it does on walls, etc... however, it is Krylon on metal, so it might hold up fine

I feel like I should conduct a field test on a piece of scrap steel. paint it, then test it over and over lol.

Sounds good! I almost picked up an used NEA lower handguard yesterday...but I can't bring myself to spend $50... too poor. lol (I already did a DIY rail attachment for a vert grip on my CZ so, I will just roll with that for now).

I hear you dude... I just bought some no-name aluminium rails from ebay, drilled some holes in the handguard and now I'm good to go. They work great for grips and flashlights (I wouldn't recommend use them for optics). I'll post some pics soon (you can see some vids below).

hahha yea, for optics, I opted (no pun there... :p ) for the NEA upper handguard, so that's fine. however, a vert grip is not quite "precise", so I just DIY'd it and it's solid as a rock!

Here is my first attempt at this. I used the old factory furniture, sanded, primed and sprayed 3 colors (tan, green, black). Looks and feels much better then I expected.
