Enfield and Nagant Tradex Order

I've got the Mosin all cleaned up now. Pretty sure I need a new bore brush now. Once I go to the store and pick up a few things I can get started on the Enfield (hunting season = low supply)

I finally got the Enfield all cleaned up. In comparison to those Russian rifles, the Enfield has tons of parts and is a little more complicated. Very nice barrel, strong and shiny. Thumbs up!

Any idea where the Enfield may have been issued last? Maybe Greece or Turkey? Anything other than commonwealth markings on it?

I'm assuming it didn't hang out in England, but I suppose you never know.

Thanks

If it came from Turkey, they usualy have a stacking bar bolted on the front band like a mouser and the sling on ones I have seen, (including mine which I cut off) looks like a refugee from a rag factory.

I suppose somewhere there was a soldier using braces to hold his pants up, as someone stole his belt:D

I'll post pics tomorrow. I'll just edit this post and stick them in.

The Enfield has the markings and serial number of a Maltby. The bolt is matching. All I've left to do is get my hands on that special bolt tool (or make my own which is more likely) and try that wood stock in a garbage bag on a hot day trick to see how much cosmo bleeds from it.

If you can get your hands on a steam cleaner, that should help with the cosmoline problem on the stock. My grandfather (who sold all his Enfields before he died, darn him!!!:D) once told me that using a steam cleaner was the best way to get cosmoline off a stock, outside of using gasoline. He served from 39-45, so I'd guess he knew what he was talking about.
