Enfields

I have a long branch 1941 0L1### with matching numbered barrel in great condition. I also have a 1941 1L### long branch that had the barrel replaced in 1951 also in great condition. Both receiver are like the british receivers with the bolt catch.

My line-up as of today.

Hi guys. I have a question about a 41 Maltby. The one I just picked up has a 2 groove barrel and by the stamping of the numbers, I believe it to be the original barrel. I thought that the early rifles especially Brits, had 5 groove. The 2 groove was aproved in 41, I didn't think they were using them that early.
Any ideas?

Hi, got some SMLE questions, mostly.

I understand that no4 magazines will not fit in the No1 MkIII, correct?

Are there further differences in, say; the extractor and extractor spring?

Also; the AIA Enfields, are they any good at all?

Among me n my friends:
ROF Fazakerly no5mk1 " jungle carbine"
Lithgow no1 mk3 with 1907 Australian bayonnet
Sporterized no1 mk 3 with Bausch n Lomb scope
Sporterized BSA 1944 turned into folding stock scout sniper role.
Has options of scout mounted BSA scope on rail , or S&K mounted BSA tacticsl mildot.

No4 mags can fit in a No1 MkIII but it may take some tweaking. I have an LSA here that has a Longbranch mag in it.

My list to date

1915 LSA No1 MkIII sporter
1918 NRF No1 MkIII*
1942 Longbranch No4 MkI*
1944 Maltby No4 MkI mismatched MkI*, converted to a Standard No4 at Parker-Hale
1944 Longbranch No4 MkI* restored sporter built into a No4MkI*(T) by me
1945 BSA No5 MkI

Here's my latest.

Refurbed this one over the past few days; a Savage-build receiver, with great bore, hope to shoot it soon to see what she can do... Original numbers on left side of receiver were scrubbed, then new serial stamped on bolt and barrel, but not on serial. Odd. Really, really nice bore. Wood is decent too, should be an honest shooter.

[/IMG] Just picked this up from a good friend the other day. I'm the second owner of this 1955 with 100 rounds down the barrel. Very happy to have this in my cabinet.

My SMLE No.1 MK3* made at Rifle Factory Ishapore in 1962. It was in awful shape when I first got it, so I redid the stock and metal.

What about the extractors and stuff? Are all the parts basically interchangeable?

Is this the right place to ask about the AIA rifles?
