Enfields

Some parts are interchangeable and others aren't. Bolt parts don't seem to be. Rear sling swivels are, No4 butt will go on No1 but haven't tried the other way around. Etc.

Btw Crazy I love your rifle! Gorgeous!

I tried a search, and while I did find a few tidbits here and there, I can't locate a complete(ish) listing - is there a glossary somewhere that describes the markings found on enfields?

I just picked up another #4 that has some stuff on it my others don't. Some I don't recognize.

Hi everyone. I received my first rifle 5-6 years ago from my father-in-law when I first started hunting. It's a 1917 American Enfield (.30-06) that I believe originally came from Eddystone. The rifle was pretty rough when he first gave it to me - it had been sitting in an old grain bin for ??? years. I had the gun reblued and took it shooting. It shoots great. I've taken two deer and numerous coyotes with it, so I can't complain about accuracy.

Last spring, I was doing some target shooting and noticed that after reloading the rifle, the firing pin would strike the primer, but nothing would happen. Even after waiting for a minute, there would be no hang fire. After ejecting the first cartridge, the gun would then shoot the remaining rounds with no problems. I have faithfully cleaned this rifle, but it still misfires on the first bullet. I haven't shot the rifle since. What could be my problem?

Hi Adam, best would be to start a new thread just about that situation, chances are you'll get more "visitors". Just for a quick question though, did you disassemble the bolt to clean it's internals?

Anyone have any information on an enfield model 1914, disassembly/dates for serial numbers etc. I just got one and it's a Remington serial # is under 200k none of the numbers match.

Greatly appreciated!!

It's been too long since I took pictures of my Jungle Carbine. Still too snowy for shooting here but a perfect day for some new pictures.

I thought I would share my latest acquisition, a 1944 no4 mk1* longbranch. Matching bolt/ receiver but not the mag. I'm trying to identify the markings on it so if any of you knows what it means please educate me.

It seems that the finish on the magazine is not the same as the rest of the rifle, if anyone knows why I would be interested to know
