Entry level red dot

Get a used Eotech off of EE for about the same price as a new Holosun with tax. The Holosun, while cheap, may not last very long. A good Eotech will serve you well. Had a Vortex Spar II and found the dot not as clear. The Eotech is just way better IMHO.
A brand new Holosun 403 is about $230 new,, if you can find a used Eotech for that price I will take a dozen!!! The Holosun will last as long or longer than anything on the market, especially in the budget optic department, watch the torture tests on YouTube.
You are literally looking at twice the price for an Eotech used,,,not exactly the budget optic the OP was asking about :)

Sig Romeo 5 is a good choice. I have had lots of TRS-25's and while they are a very good value, their glass is quite "blue" in comparison to the Holosuns and Sigs. Some of the Holosuns are outstanding values and their reticles are very crisp for their price point.

The sigs romeo X are holosuns... usually with a small markup.

The Bushnell and vortex red dots looked very grainy to me when I got a chance to look through them. I havent had hands on a holosun, but I think that will be the next purchase when I take my scope off my AR.

Holosun are a fantastic optic in your price range, in my opinion the 403 is the best optic on the market under $250. I own both the trs-25 and the Holosun, and yes the trs is more affordable, but for $75 or so more the Holosun gives you so much more. The 2moa dot is much more precise, auto shut off, 50,000hr battery life, and I love the " shake and wake", move the gun and the optic turns on. Watch some reviews on YouTube, Holosun make a tough, durable and affordable optic

Totally agree- I have the 406c and love it. I also have a TRS25, and it's good, but the Holosun is better. The 2MOA dot is much nicer than the TRS's 3MOA.

I have to hop on the TRS-25 band-wagon.
I have one on a 12g and one on a 22. Both are guns prone to getting beat up and the TRS's haven't let me down.
For the price, they are hard to beat.

I like DI optical's line of red dots.

I recently bought the DI optical SP1C (30 MOA circle with 1.5 MOA dot) which I put on my MP15-22, I like it since its easy to swing the circle onto a target and speed shoot it for steel challenge. Not terribly expensive at $300 but Wolverine right now has a small sale where its discounted a bit.

It mounted on my MP 15-22 with perfect iron sight cowitness, and its really lightweight 200g with a CR2032 battery, it has nice easy to push digital buttons to turn it on and off and doesn't have a lot of the typical red dot blue lenses effect the colors are pretty correct.
