EOTEC - Where can I find one?

I hate posting these kind of threads, so please don't flame me down for doing so haha. My build is complete, and I can't wait to get it down to the range, but I need some sights, and a red dot (preferably an Eotech).

Browsing through the CGN site sponsors, everyone seems to be out of stock of all Eotechs except for the "Zombie Stopper."

Even though my build is slightly zombie themed, spending that much on a sight, I think I would prefer to get something less "trendy".

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm open to different models in the Eotech lineup, not overly picky, and will even settle with the Zombie Stopper if I have to, but thought I'd see what my other options are.

Thanks in advance!

Have you used an Eotech before? If not, you really should try before you buy. The recticle is all fuzzy for people with astigmatism (corrected or not).

This among many other issues (such as fragility and over heating) may be why you don't see many Eotechs around anymore. It's aimpoint or bust for most folk. That said, I've got a Burris FastFire II that does the trick for a small cheap red dot, no complaints about it. Of course, it's certainly no Aimpoint.

Any recommendation on where I can find aimpoints available?

Actually going to have to disagree with you on this one ALOT of people still use Eotechs including both the Canadian and American military.
They are rugged and have taken a beating both in the field and in the trails against any other company.
They are the standard by which every other holosight/redot sight is measured.
And the type of eotech you get will depend on whether or not you are using an A2 gas block or not.

A2 Gas Block: If your using the A2 gas block you want a 517/516 (difference is AA or cr123 batteries used) or EXPS2
(difference in them being the EXPS2 is lighter and more useful if you are looking at getting one of the magnifiers)
Reason for getting either of this is in order to have the 7 mm raised base offering iron sight access. This essentially it allows you to cowitness your sights with the iron sights so the holographic image doesnt touch your front A2 site

Flat rails: You want to get 512 or any of the XPS models without the 7mm raised based (mostly because cost is lower than that of the raised ones)

Finally most of their higher priced stuff like the 552 and XPS3 are only because of nightvision compatibility (which I am pretty sure you dont need). So i wouldnt recommend shelling out the cash for that unless you have already spend the 2-4k on some sort of night vision setup.

Thats my 2cents on it good luck with your purchase.

Could check out a lucid..

PS I have a massive (corrected) astigmatism and I don't have an issue with either of my EOTECHs... Mind you I have glasses specifically for shooting

I've done some research and tried Eotech on the range. In my opinion field of view wins for me over Aimpoint. There must be a reason why most of the EO models are out of stock, specially EXPS line ;)

Any recomendations against the XPS2-Z.. the "Zombie Stopper"? I think I may just go that rout. Just might not be as desirable for resale down the road when the zombie phase dies out, mind you my Lower receiver has "Zombie Outbreak Response Team" engraved right on it, so I guess it would suit the build quite well haha.

It is going on a flat top upper with low profile gas block. I might add Magpul BUIS down the road. Just wanted to check before clicking "checkout" haha

Field of view should never be a problem with any red dot. You should be shooting with both eyes open anyhow due to the complete lack of paralax.

Either way OP, I would suggest trying a couple makes and models before you buy. There is a personal element to the 1x magnification optics.

I think the zombie EO is just a regular EO with a biohazard sign for a reticle, yeah? If the price is right, I'd say go for it!

Farther down the page, at this link there is a chart of all the models and what the reticles look like.

Ends up being just over $600 including shipping and tax. I would prefer a quick detach mount on it, but I'm assuming these can probably be purchased separate?

On the non QD model, there is a long rail clamp with 2 bolts. If you were able to buy a QD adapter (and I'm not sure if you can) it would raise the unit by at least a ½ inch I'd guess. Whether or not that would affect the accuracy of the sight, I'm not sure. but I would assume so. You'll notice that different models are set up the different ballistic performance of varying calibres.

Wow, I called wanstalls when they just got the Aimpoint Pro back in stock and asked why it was $800+ on the site thinking it could be a mistake, and the guy on the phone just said because that's how much they got it for, and now its almost half..........

Whatever end up getting a EXPS on EE, to the OP you should post a WTB ad on here and see what comes up.

I ended up ordering the XPS2 Zombie Stopper, and also found a QD adapter that doesn't raise the sight at all. Not sure I'll worry about a QD adapter at this point since I can't see the immediate need for frequently removing the sight.

I've had a wanted add up on the EE for 2-3 weeks now with no luck really, prices for used seemed to be close to if not the same as new if I did receive any replies so I figured I may as well buy new.

I went to their store...and it said $440 on the actual aimpoint PRO box...so I dunno which one is true.. lol

The price on the site has dropped $479, so I'm guessing $440 is without tax. They probably just jacked up the price to see if anyone bites since they were hard to find at the time.
