Equipment Exchange Usergroup Join rejections

I just got excepted into the EE yesterday. Took exactly 10 business days as stated in the cgn rules. But I was actively perticipating in the forum.

Remember. Good things come to those who wait.

Cheers.

I joined CGN mid last year and when I applied to the EE it took a week I think to get access. It seems that they are being more careful due to the increased scams of late. I also noticed that during my time as a member here that there was quite a few people advertising in the EE and they literally had a zero post count so I think contributing and being a bit active in the forums will help a lot. Maybe the mods could make it so that new members who want EE access can only buy from the EE and not sell until a certain post count is reached? Just a suggestion as it may keep some of the crooks away as its more work for them

I think that symbolic amount CGN wants for membership is just to confirm that you applicant is a canadian resident with address and a credit card.

So if things go south, admins can give name and address to a victim.

CGN does not have ownership of the information provided to the webstore. The webstore has ownership of those information.

The forum does not know the real names and addresses of the team members. The webstore knows the personal information, but it does not know what CGN accounts they are related to.

The moderators and admin of the forum have no access to any information the webstore holds. The webstore passes an email address to the forum for update, after the webstore has done its review procedures. The forum looks up the account by the email address, if it is permitted by the forum to enable access, the account is updated. Otherwise, it is bounced back to the webstore.

I hope this clarifies the relationship between the forum and the webstore in processing team membership. At no point does the forum access, handle and/or store any personal information. That is all done by the webstore.

It is kind of tough to figure who's who no doubt there. However, not exactly on the topic but is kind of related..
Joined a while back. Read a lot(thank you - great site ) before my first purchase. Then came a restricted purchase from EE. Deal done. I've left a positkve feedback for the seller. .. and he has not.
I have completed his conditions 100%. EMT was in his inbox before we even spoke on the phone.
Politely reminded him twice.. still nothing.. although he did not forget to offer me to buy aother two guns from him...
With regards posts forum .. i dont feel expert enough yet to "participate" with something of a value.
I am not complaining. Just wanted to throw one more side of the .. coin.
Perhaps an i dicator for the newbies who they are/will be dealing with is that the CGNer i bought from has a nearly 90 feedback score and 3 forum posts.

I'm new to the hobby so I don't have a lot of input to offer . Kind of makes getting the post count up a bit difficult but I get it. Waiting to get access to the EE as well in hopes of making my first purchases there.

What kind of gun are you looking at buying for your first one? Do you already know what caliber? It's easy to chat and and ask questions.

That was going to be my comment as well. Ask lots of questions. Trust me, you'll get lots of answers. Some you might just have to ignore. lol. Pick through the information and decide what's best for you. There is an abundance of knowledge on this site.

Yes well as I'm just getting back into it I thought I'd start with a 22lr rifle because a) they are relatively inexpensive b) easy to pack along when we go out off-roading and then hiking c) quieter to shoot which means the dogs ( leashed or in the cab ) won't be traumatized and d) increases the chances of the wife joining in if it's not too big and scary...I've got that covered already.

I'm also going to get into handguns so I got the "RPAL" , have started looking into membership at the local gun clubs and have reached out to a helpful member here on the forum that lives in the same area and has been very receptive. Fact is there is a metric ton of information already here on the forum for the reading and search oriented. I did recently purchase a couple of air gun pistols and set up an indoor range to help with the familiarization and selection process so I'll bide my time with those for awhile.

Thanks for the response though cereal83 ... much appreciated. I see that your from Ontario and I have to wonder to myself if you are anywhere near the area where they recently found the tv ad characters Snap , Crackle and Pop all victims of a triple homicide. Seems they are looking for a cereal killer.

Sorry , I see now that they have a whole section on the forum for that kind of thing. My bad.

Yes thanks McHoss.

Soooo much knowledge that I'm up half the night just reading through the posts ! Good thing I'm semi-retired or I'd have had some piss poor work attendance since I became a member.

It's super easy to get your post count up. All you have to do is find a thread on how gun owners' rights are being infringed upon, and then post on it pretending you're a liberal. You'll have tons of people replying to you (no friendly replies, but replies all the same), and then you'll be able to have a huge argument with everyone and get your post counts up!!

There are bajillions of posts that are, at best, peripherally gun related. You may not yet know much about guns, but I bet you have an opinion or two. You can find conversations about fishing, camping, politics, memes, sports gear and knives, prepping, cars, boats, food, etc, etc,. I've even heard rumour about a mysterious "girls with guns" thread.

Just here to get my post count up ;)

I'm a newbie so I don't have a lot to add to most conversations yet. Just taking my new savage out to range for first time today. Would love a pistol when I eventually get access to EE

I get you there, only made 10 posts my first month on CGN because did not want to say stupid things that turned out to be wrong, so learned as much as I could first. However that being said it is very easy to get access if you post relevant to the topic questions/ answers, or bring new articles/ ideas to CGN
As to the feedback, some members who do a lot of trading don't bother with feedback. one of my last purchases did not bother leaving me feedback, but not a major issue, although obviously having those first couple points go a long way towards people trusting you with their money when buying, and not buying off someone with a 0 feedback.
All that being said I am tired of new members treating CGN as just an EE. It is a forum for like minded individuals to share their passion, which also happens to have a trading portion for contributing members.

No need for expert knowledge in order to participate, any old opinion will do. Just tell someone they are wrong! Don't say why they are wrong, that's harder to do.
If you do find that you really don't like something that you posted, just delete it. Half the things I say get deleted, either by me or the moderators.:d
