Yah rainer that's why in two world wars these super duper euros had to ask uncle sam to bail them out of their sh1t with their inferior weapons. Also who is keeping the free world free and with what?

Seems like somebody is in an belligerent state! And who is keeping the free world free?America?Right!! Just for arguement sake, which NA gun is superior to a Euro gun?Maybe a savage if you like canoeing,it can double as a paddle.-Rainer

Not to bug anybody, but the superior stuff came not from somebody calling for help, but rather kicking every butt in the Old World.
Russia did not break free using the most advanced technology.
America didn't enter the WWs just to "help".

Hey guys, we're talking about finesse here, not how much dust can a K98 or AK 47 can get compared to an Enfield / AR15. Ha!

Its easy to build lots of weapons when your factories, railways, bridges and the like don't get bombed.

I'd like to know how much work needs to go into a new Remington or Winchester action just to blueprint it. I bet quite a bit. I used to own a custom shop Remington BDL and it was LIGHT YEARS ahead of a regular BDL. Guess what, the MSRP on that rifle is US$1700. Because that is how much it costs to do the job right, which is what most European manufacturers do. But that doesn't suit the mentality of NA hunters, which is why Remington builds the SPS. Price is factor #1 for many folks, and for those that think differently...well, they are the clientelle for custom builders.

Europe no question, more tradition which date early as 1498,while ameica almoust wasnt discovered,u cannot compare at all merkel heym krieghoff many austrian firms from ferlach, fanzoj, ludwig borownik, jakob koschat, german adamy gebruder tjf, wolf and many more french british etc,its like comparing cheap ford with audi

I'd say North America when it comes to tactical firearms due to our constant experience in wars. Yes Europe plays their part but I don't see them bearing the lion's share in Iraq or Afghanistan. Hunting rifles I have to give to the Europeans Tikka, Sako, Steyr etc. Britian is on it's own though SA80= worst rifle ever

Note quite. There were several o/u shotgun designs well before Browning came up with the Superposed. All of them originated in Europe.

What about the Remington Model 32 (intro in 1932). One of the most copied O/U designs in History. Kreighoff's K80 is a direct decendent of the Model 32

Let's take a Sauer 202? Closing that bolt is las smooth as a euro Speed train compared to the CN rail road.
Accuracy-wise it would be a pissing match, but lasting workmanship????Sorry , i would have to go with the euros.

I buy whichever rifle I happen to fancy at the moment. Sometimes the Euro guns make my d!ck hard. Other times it's American guns which give my the tingly in the front-pants area. Too many people compare those gorgeous Mausers, Blasers, Steyrs, Sauers, Merkels, Heyms, Sakos, and whatever else with the likes of off-the-shelf Remingtons and Winchesters and Savages and Marlins, but they should be compared with Coopers and Dakotas and Weatherbys and Kimbers. When you start talking custom or semi-custom, you get into the same price range with similar quality.

If you bristle with pride every time you open your riflecase, you're doing it right.

I hope you're kidding right. :?:

Blaser is not "old school" it's a fairly new company, and they do cater to more than just the guys with a seven figure bank account...

Yes they do nice work but their new blaser r93 off-road would not be out of place in your or my neck of the woods. Take a look-see. :)

Cheers,

Alex

:agree:

The R93 and R8 Professional rifles are also nice, and wouldn't look out of place here. I was looking at getting one until recently, decided it was a little out of my price range right now though.

euro

I go with the euro's because of the quality. When Allen Lever started selling CZ 600 rifles, you could almost buy two for the price of a remington or winchester. Now CZ's are a lot more expensive. Euro made Browning bolt action rifles are second to none. Sako, Sig-Sauer 200 series and old Husky's.
I have Sig Sauer 200 series rifles, one is the conversion model in 3006 with additional 30 cal barrels and the other is the Hunter Target Model in 7.62x51 with heavy barrel. I also have a number of the old euro browning rifles, 3006,7mm mag, 375H&H mag and 458 mag. Old Sako's in 7mm mag.
I also have the usual remington, winchester etc. But the euro's are in their own class.

Not all high quality Europeans are expensive.
Look at Tikka T3, CZ and Zastava. Then you have Russian guns also, Baikal or with whatever name they are sold.
Winchester Wildcat .22 is in fact a Russian made rifle stamped with Winchester logo.

Though this is a very old poll and i might have already taken part, but I def. favor American made guns, but you have to compare apples with apples. Compare a $3000 Euro rifle with a $3000 American rifle and no question, the American made rifle wins on wood quality alone.
