i pack ammo in my truck, jacket and pocket. have never forgot. left for a weekend without a mag once. good thing the first round did the trick. its hard as hell to single feed a wsm into a tikka when in a hurry. they like to fall out the mag well.

no and when I do Ill go right to the backup gun (and hope I didnt' forget the ammo for that one !!)

People's definition of middle of BF nowhere varies. I've worked/lived/hunted in small towns before and if you hunt with something even as odd as a 25-06 you just might be SOL trying to find extra shells in the local hardware store if you choose to do some sighting in before/during your hunting trip. That being said, I have run out on two seperate occasions during hunts and those weren't the best feelings. It's not hard to go on a trip prepared with a lot more than you'll need.
+1 on this! Trigger locks on non-restricted's are just a unnecessary PITA. I avoid them too. If I had kids around it would be another story.
Never forgot the ammo on a far away hunting trip (knock wood). I have forgotten it on day trips. It wasn't a big deal, I just didn't shoot anything

Agreed... I prefer to pull bolts out of my bolt guns and store them separately. I've drilled

Agreed... I prefer to pull bolts out of my bolt guns and store them separately. I've drilled my fair share of trigger locks on Sunday night at deer camp. Two pins removes a remington 742/760 trigger group nicely.
Never..... Even if I did, my guns are sighted in for their specific (hand) loads, not store bought generic stuff - so what good would it be? Last time i tried factory OTC stuff, fed blue box 7mmrm POI shot 1 foot away from hand loads at 100yds!
Yes i have forgot something but never my ammo. I forget things like get into my stand and remember awe sh!t I forgot my tags.Yeah because you have never forgot anything

I have forgotten my gun before! My buddy wanted to shoot a bear with his bow and I was supposed to back him up. Luck he brought his gun but he for got the clip! AND he forgot his arrow quiver!
So there I am trying to keep my balance on a 10" wide stump 3 feet in the air my buddy right in front of me on another stump. Were 10 yards from a sow and 3 cubs and I got arrows in one hand bullets in another and a borrowed single shot rifle up to my shoulder. The sow walked right past us, got 20 yards down wind smelt us huffed at her cubs then turned and came right at us at a fair trot, 20yards, 15 yards 10 yards,

That's even worse. At least if you just forget your ammo you can still club the deer with your rifle.

I have never forgotten my ammunition. I have also never forgotten a detachable mag, or a bolt for a rifle, but I always store them with the gun. I have combination trigger locks on my handguns, and none on my long guns. I have had a few laughs at the expense of a couple of people that lost magazines, or forgot bolts though, it's kind of a tradition for us to put a string on their gloves through the sleeves of their coat if that happens.
I've never forgotten ammo, but magazine once, and key once. I now keep the mag with the rifle, and a spare key in the pack. A hunting partner from out of province borrowed one of my guns once. He wasn't used to it and used up a lot more ammo then expected. We were in a remote area and lo and behold, the local shop had the common caliber! It payed off that time.
Exactly what I do now. That way I always have at least one magazine with me. I have spare mag(s) too, just in case something happens to the primary mag.
You're out in the bush. Pace out the distance, setup a target, and sight it in with the ammo you just bought. Not ideal, but at least you get to hunt with your rifle. You don't need sub-MOA accuracy for the vast majority of hunting.

Never happened. Don't see it as a reason to buy a certain rifle either. I'll drive all night to go back and get my carefully handloaded ammo regardless.
Worst thing I had happen was left my wallet in my jeans at home while driving for coyotes. Drove for an hour, stopped for gas. No wallet, not enought gas to make it to my spot and back. Drove hone, got wallet, lost two hours of the day, but still killed me some yotes.
