Ever special-order a Tikka?

I don't think it is a case of "not avail in Canada" from Tikka or Beretta, it's from Stoeger and what they want to stock for Cda. Had a discussion with them on some bullets, they distribute the line in Canada, ammo, brass, pellets, .22 rounds, but, say bullets have to be bought in lots of 10K. I call BS on them having a min order of 10K pieces from the mfgr, it's Stoeger that is the issue. They don't want to be bothered with that order, as in, add a case of bullets to an ammo order, takes 6mos or a year, fine by me. Could be the same with adding an oddbal rifle to an order as a special order.

Hey guys-not a wonky idea for some I bet, but I've been exploring the idea of getting a Tikka/hunter (not varmint) in 222, and that caliber is well-represented on the Tikka site. When I couldn't find any new Tikka 222 in Canada, I reached out to Stoeger only to learn they don't ship anything 222 to Canada but they can be ordered through a dealer. Wait time=1 year +

I get supply chains can move @ a snail's pace, and it is a gun coming into Canada from the other side of the ocean...but a year+ suggests the gun doesn't exist yet/made when the demand is there? I forwarded that specific question/waiting on a reply.

More of a curiosity-won't impact the decision.

I want to try 222/don't love allot of older stuff I see on the used market. Just wondering if any of you have ordered a non-stock Tikka through a dealer/Stoeger, how did it go/actual lead time? Price in line with what you're seeing in Canada for Tikka?

thanks!

Just buy a crappy used Tikka in 223 (there's no shortage of them) and get a 222 barrel from JC Customs. half as much money as a custom Tikka, and twice as good.

When the 204 Ruger was first introduced, I ordered a Tikka Stainless Laminate from Prairie Gun Traders. Took 8-9 months to get here if I remember correctly. It was one of the first brought into Canada. Still remember picking up the rifle in the Superstore parking lot in Moose Jaw. Used it for a couple years and it was a very accurate but didn't really fit me. Sold it to a guy who just had to have it and went to the Sako varmint laminate. Still have the Sako and it has shot 100s of coyotes over the years.
I still have a Tikka T3 in 204. I picked it up at Eagle Firearms in Tisdale about 7 or 8 years ago I think... Great gun, and like you say, very accurate. I had a CZ 527 American in 204 at the time, and the Tikka outshot it with every round I tried. I sold the CZ, kinda regret it now looking at how much they are worth now (and what I sold it for), but the guy I sold it to still loves and uses that gun all the time, so that eases the pain some haha.
