I will draw your attention to the post I made in response. One of our own members here (Simonyzer) did some M14 bolt testing in 2004, getting these results:

CGN member "Simonyzer" reported the following statistics to me in 2004 for current import rifles:

Quote:
Here are the results of the 3 rifles I tested...

Rifle 1
Average: 47.7 HRC
Min: 47 HRC
Max: 48 HRC

Rifle 2
Average: 46.2 HRC
Min: 45 HRC
Max: 47 HRC

Rifle 3
Average: 47.2 HRC
Min: 46 HRC
Max: 48.5 HRC
He did not break down the locations where the testing was done on the bolt any further than that for me.

The early generation Norinco rifles (from the 90's) that were imported by Century (I think they even offered kits of unassembled rifles that you could buy and put together yourself) were of the type which used the bolts tested by Different (Lee Emmerson.) The newer production M14S rifles (and M305 rifles) would not have been tested by the US owners, since they are illegal to import.

The old M14 clones from the '90's....the so called "Polytech" rifles, were of questionable quality. The new production Norinco ones...well, they seem to be much closer to the real spec than the Polytech ones.

I might add, from the experience of some, closer still to some of the actual specification of an M14 rifle than some of the Springfield M1A rifles.

Again folks, Dodge vs Ford vs Chev.
