With so many rifle scope makers using Japanese glass and parts 1 has to wonder how much this earthquake, and the nuclear problems are going to effect the delivery of everything coming from Japan.
On the news tonight the US border guys were yapping that a zero tolerance of goods having any radiation coming from would be tolerated, needless to say the news guy did not bother to ask exactly what this really means, but given that many of the scopes sold in Canada come in via the US I have to wonder if we are in for dry spell on optics, amongst other things?

Japanese are pretty organized, you hear of any looting or anything going on there? What do you think would happen in the US if they had this quake? they are way too efficient to lose market share in exports lol.

Yeah. all the guys whining that the Vortex PST is no longer being made in Japan should be happy Vortex switched to a manufacturer in the Phillipines.

If prices rise, it won't be a dealer decision, as the Yen is at a 60 +/- year high against the USD.

The good news is that the Japanese are organized, resilient people and efforts getting their lives back will set standards for the world.

Peter

Nikon

We received a warning about Nikon's japanese plant for reflex cameras being temporarily closed due to the numerous telluric replicas they are experiencing daily.
Once that situation subside, they will resume normal operation.
