Expectations of zastava m85 in 7.62x39

I like mine. It is lighter and more accurate than my 30/30 with irons. I want to put a peep sight in the dovetail.

I don't know if the winchester super X is .308 cal but it hates that stuff. It will fire European hunting ammo like Sellier and Belliot and Privi Partizan well.

You might be able to get the part from Canada Ammo or failing that Western Gun parts. I was told that the Remington spring works and allows the full 5 round capacity...

Just ge a Remington mag spring for a 7 and fit it...should be easy.
Side note, put a box of 150gr rn .308 through it today, showed promise, better then factory, next up are some 125gr .308 Sierra....

How is your m85 shooting Hitzy? I had to put the project on hold as I have to get a new scope for mine and the honey-do list keeps growing. I was going to re-pillar bed mine and freefloat the barrel and try out the factory ammo. Failing that maybe re-load but I really don't want to go that route.

The 150's were grouping around 2 inches, but then I got horizontal stringing bad once it got a little warm, so there is some bedding I need to clean up next...

Yep! Done and done! Thanks. 10 mins with some tin snips and a little fitting and it works better than stock. 5 rounds easily in the mag and no issues. Thanks.

Received mine today, and shot to see what it was like. Having read a few posts I expected some issues, and there are a few that need taking care of. I think it's ok for the money, with a little love it will be really nice.

I think that they are alright guns. Nothing spectacular. They are a pretty functional piece. I always feel like I am holding a relic from the past when I hold one in my hands...

Did you need to do much to yours ?

I have just adjusted the trigger, it's nice and light now with no creep. Next I will float the barrel, after that I will refinish the stock. It looks nice in the photo but it's a bit rough in a few places. Lovely piece of wood though.

I lightened the trigger. I need to fix the inletting and bed the action. The action screws are pretty horrid. I can't believe the screws are manufactured off center. Other than that they are OK.
