Explain the CZ-75/Shadow/Shadow 2 to me

Yep, scary accurate. 15 yards every single shot in a zone of metric Target all rapid fire too 25 rounds. Pulling the trigger as soon as sights aligned. Will see how it works for uspda jan 1st. So far me thinks it'll be an alpha Slayer.

I love the 2 CZ's I've shot, but if you have small hands or short fingers, the DA pull is way too long of a reach. If it weren't for that I'd have bought one years ago.

Sorry, thought you were speaking of a the S2 rather than the new SP01 that you just got.

My bad.

Cant really see what your doing with the trigger from this angle but looking at the target id say your doing just fine and your grip looks pretty much spot on.

Thanks for the kind words. My problem with my trigger control is 1) staying consistent and 2) I probably need to start thinking about prepping the trigger. I watched JJ Racaza teach this, and after listening to him explain it, I had a dumb blonde moment thinking "...that's freaking obvious. How come I didn't think to do that?" As for my grip, my strong hand wrist is still flexing too much. That's a huge problem for me.

In the same line of questioning. Why does the CZ 85 get no love?

I shot an 85 before the SP-01 came out and It was the most comfortable 9mm I shot. (Shot Glock, PPQ's, M92's). I shot the SP-01 and the ergos were the same, but the pistol naturally came right back to point of aim (I had to muscle the 85 back on target. The dust rail weight just reset the pistol much better in my grip.

When I went looking for a pistol to purchase, the SP-01 was only locally available as a Shadow, and thus was what I purchased and now shoot.

Alright resurrecting an old thread. I finally got a proper edit done on my latest video. This is my first time shooting the Shadow 2 or any hammer fired pistol in competition. This is also only my 3rd IPSC match ever. So, I'm very sloppy. And yet, surprisingly maintained a top 10 finish. Only 2 things I will criticise this Shadow 2 for. 1) the fiber optic is practically non-existent, you might as well shoot with an all-black front sight. I find it to be worthless. And 2) you will see on stage 5 I had 2 mag premature ejections. This has to do with my support hand hitting a very big mag release button while firing. Good thing the button is adjustable so I'll look into moving it out of the way. The entire pistol definitely has a long learning curve for me. I'm definitely missing on my DA pulls - and you'll see I'm having to go back and shooting an extra round in.

For da you need to do a lot of white wall drills. I was having the same issue with my shadow custom from czc. Now after 2 weeks dry fire, I'm able to turn and draw two alphas within 2.5s with one in da and 1.5s for draw and two alphas.

Did that. I thought my DA pull would be decent prior to the match. Things are different when a timer is over my head. I just watched Maria Gushchina racked the slide during the draw so the first pull is SA. So, I might lean on that method more.

do you do timed dry fire? I use my shot timer;s par timer to time my dry fire. I would think that rackinng the slide would be slower than just burning a round and taking 3 shots on one target.

If you shooting IPSC production, unless otherwise stated in the course description, first shot must be DA or a penalty is incurred. Once and a while a stage will say gun unloaded in holster, or gun unloaded on table, etc in which case you will need to rack the slide and by default start in SA.

Not sure the video but I'm thinking it had to be an unloaded start? I seriously doubt a shooter at the level Maria is at with access to the best equipment etc is sidestepping the DA pull by racking the slide off the draw.

Protege, are you a member of Burlington? Looks like Burlington in your first video. If so, I can fix that da stroke for you in about ten minutes of range time.

I haven't gone that deep yet. Just draw and fire, rinse and repeat. According to my shotmaxx, my draws are around 1.6-1.8 seconds during the match. Buuuutttt, I'm pulling.

You sir are correct. Forgot about that. But i will probably double check with ipsc ontario for their interpretation of the rules. Here's the video I'm referring to. Please see around the 41sec, 1:44, 2:58, 3:58. I think these are times....i could be off.

Yes i am. If we can work out a schedule during wednesdays I'll definitely appreciate it. Unfortunately this is my only free time for now.
I cant do wednesdays since i commute into toronto. Ping me back - channel with an email addy ane I'll write it out for you. It's a relatively easy fix, mechanically speaking.
