Extension for a Super Nova

My +6 extension and clamp are currently sitting in customs. Ordered from cactus, no problems yet.

I pretty sure i'm checking USPS tracking like every 27 seconds. I hate waiting for packages, even moreso when they have tracking.

Out of curiosity, why did you choose +6 for a standard-manual gun? To have some extra if you get time to load on the move?

Not necessarily going to be an IPSC gun, i just wanted what would be the closest to flush fit on my 28" field barrel. If need arises, i'll stick a plug in it if I have to.

Also need to take it to Casey at tacord, see what he can do to give it something of a rear sight for slugs, even if it's dovetailing a 10/22 rear sight in there somewhere.

+6 fits flush on my 28" Super Nova, plus gives you room for extra shells after the beep, plus means slightly less ooomph required to load into the tube.

+6 it is, even though it looks like it'll extend 4" past the barrel since I'll be running a 24" lol Thanks for the tips guys. On a side note, my bambina came in pistol grip (the deal was too good to pass up on).. Any tricks to fast loading one in this configuration? Any videos? Quick googling didn't help.

Should load the same as any other shotgun, but if you roll it over the pistol grip has the potential to be in the way. You could always look for the regular stock if it is something you prefer. They are fairly common to trade some guy.

If you have a pistol grip then load4 weakhanded is the way to go. Trying to do load2/twins or quadloading will be hard with the grip in the way.

So in other words, you are going to want AP Customs 4x4 caddies or equivalent. Get at least four if not five of them, and a bunch of dummies or snap caps, and start practicing. You won't be lightning fast right away, but if you can get to the point where you are not fumbling shells on the ground you'll be somewhat competitive.

Also, get the new Nordic follower for the Super Nova... helps make loading easier/smoother and the gun will function more reliably.

Brownells will also ship Nordic extentions north.. Couple of things to consider.. USPSA doesn't restrict length, simply rounds, so have at least 2 or 3 more round capcity is good. Seen lots of folks add extra rounds immediately following the start. The other thing is that having the extension tube hang out past the end of the barrel stops the end of the hot barrel sticking to the carpet in the dump barrel.. just don't get it so long that it'll fall back out of the barrel. Nordic's new extension coupler is a great way to go,, +5 (or whatever) to get just to the end of the barrel, then a coupler and a 2 or 3 more.. unthread the coupler and it fits in your bag..

Thanks for all the tips guys.. I'll be making a post on EE to trade the stock for sure and will be contacting Nik for AP customs 4x4's. I might go on a budget, only get 3 and make do with the 2 cali comp shell holders in case I REALLY fumble during the match.. The stage is most likely a writeoff anyway if I need the extra 12 shells' worth of real-estate lol

Well remember that IPSC COFs can be up to 32 rounds, and you want a few extra in case of fumbles or whatever. That means 24 on the belt is an absolute bare minimum (unloaded starts can be up to 24 rounds) and 32 or more would be better.

I figured 3x8 + 2x6 would get me there (36 total)... 24 for if all goes well and 12 if shtf and I just need to finish the stage any which way I can.

That'll work fine.

For a 32 round stage just load out of a box of shells and save the belt for after the beep.

That was the plan...... Other than the shellholders, stock swap and a bipod for the rifle, now I'm fully equipped for handgun (prod), rifle (open), mini-rifle (open) and shotgun (standard-manual) :)
