I have a stainless, heavy barrel 10/22 that is a great shooter.......but the darn thing isn't fun to carry around. So I bought a butler creek carbon fiber barrel of the same diameter and assembled it as per the manufacturers instructions. WHAT A DIFFERENCE !! The rifle feels and handles like a wand and, I am happy to report, is almost as accurate as with the Ruger barrel.
However there is a problem with the extraction, not while firing but if you want remove a live round from the chamber, the extractor won't always pluck that round out. Often I just remove the magazine and fire the chambered round. How do I fix this? I called butler creek and may I report they were no help whatsoever. The knob on the phone said the extractor needed tuning and to take it to a qualified gunsmith. Gee, thanks bud!
Anyone here know how to fix this problem?!?
